This piece has exceeded my expectations and man, I am stoked about it! May be EFX’s best offering to date in terms of accuracy and quality.

There are three small things I’ve noticed in this video I figured I’d share. First off, it looks like the topper is a little crunchy and has damage? Not sure if that’s intentional by EFX, but none of the RF toppers on the real ones I’ve seen have had physical damage. Just painted silver edges. Secondly, the middle “button” looking portion of the upper ear cap should be protruding out a hair, where in the video they look flush (or maybe even slightly inset?) We are talking like 3/4 of a millimeter they should be sitting out. Maybe that can be easily fixed. On the real helmet those center button things were metal, so I’m curious if EFX also did that or not. Lastly, the upper cheeks should be painted the same dark blue as the back piece, it looks like they skipped that. (EDIT: as we’ve seen more helmets come out, I have noticed that some do have the proper darker blue on the upper cheeks.)


Please don’t confuse this for me naysaying or being negative about this helmet. Couldn’t be further from the truth! This is just stuff I noticed is different from the real helmets. I have one on order and I am stoked to get it, and ultimately these are just very small details that can likely be fixed.

I paid the pre-order deposit to Spec Fiction Shop 4 days ago. They and BBTS sold out their pre-orders the following day. I just received the invoice for the remaining balance stating that it's ready to ship.

Hopefully some retailer has them in stock available soon if anyone missed out on the preorder.

I got an email from EFX. They will replace the helmet. They provided a return shipping label to print out, with instructions to return everything except the numbered plaque.

This makes 4 out of 9 or so that I've heard of arriving with issues.

This doesn’t bother me so much because I will likely repaint mine anyways, but almost every copy I’ve seen so far has very crooked stencils. The real helmet master looks to have a very slight tilt, but the eFx helmets seem to exaggerate that.

Of course I am not perfect myself and some of my helmets were a little off before I starting using the correct printed stencil shell. It’s just one of those things where once you see it it’s quite hard to unsee, for me anyways.

Is that an issue with the paint or the helmet texture. They said the helmet is 3d printed like the actual helmet, so if it is texture it could be lines from the 3d printing. The photo looks like glare seen at a certain angle, not paint that pealed off.
