Excited to see this finally announced but the shiny chrome faceplate seems...wrong.

Here is a snippet from the email:

For $150 more the eyes light up. Not keen on the gold chrome, red teeth. And the red looks very dark (even for an underexposed image it's not the hot rod red of the Mk 7)

After years of procrastination I must say that I am rather underwhelmed by this reveal. I might give it a go though and order the regular edition through BBTS whenever they have it available.
I'm a bit more concerned to see that they apparently can't make the faceplate sit flush with the rest of the helmet in either version.
And yes obviously the chrome finish should have been dulled out a bit. It looks more like the extremely shiny MK XLV than the more matte MK VII (but I for one am glad to see an Iron Man Helmet with a shiny finish that seems well done and consistent).

Eh, no thanks. Way too expensive and way too late. Plus while the shiny faceplate may be prop accurate, it just looks wrong. I'm going to pull the trigger on the Lager Toys Mk43 helmet instead, much better value - $250 shipped for a fully finished, interior padded, and motorized PVC helmet, and it looks legit. And it comes with LED lights :lol

Seriously, who charges $120 for LED lights? :facepalm

I always get suspicious when I see half-assed product photography from so-called professional product retailers. You think they could at least clean the display model before they photograph it. They didn't even deal with the reflections of the room behind them, either in setting up the lighting or in post-processing.

OMG, I didn't notice it until you pointed it out. I see a doorway, fingerprints, smudges, lint... wow.

i can make em for only half that price... lol :p:facepalm

The MK43 at Lager Toys however.. really sharp price..

Is there a particular place to get these Lager Toys? I've quickly googled them and the results are all over the place. Amazon lists everything as out of stock (and not sure if they'll get more) and I see all sorts of reviews, but not a lot in stores or even an official website.

The go-to place is KGHobby, which is based in Hong Kong. Very reliable store, bought from them a few times. Good communication and trustworthy (they refunded my money once, after product cancellations). For the helmet (among certain other items) you have to message them on FB or email them directly to order.

I wonder what the wait time is going to be, aren't some members still waiting for Star Wars helmets they ordered years ago?

Release date is set for 1st QUARTER 2016, so probably no early than 2nd quarter of 2017.

Here's what I noticed that was very noticeably wrong about the announcement:

eFX

I read no further when I got their e-mail.

Hopefully enough people pre-order these so they can fund getting the Biker Scout helmets done.

This. This is the horrible possibility of what is going on at eFX. I'm not going near this helmet until it's released, in-hand approved for quality and accuracy and being sold by BBTS or similar.

I just pre-ordered the regular edition through BBTS. There's no way I'm putting down a deposit on anything EFX puts on pre-order.
If this is actually released during Q1 2016 (which is highly unlikely, Q4 2016 seems more plausible given their track record, if not 2017), that would be almost exactly 4 years after the film's release. That's hell of a business plan.

Those helmets pre-order are not going down really fast ... I wouldn't be surprised if they end up shortening those initial numbers.

Anyone noticed that there's free shipping / 25$ off international for the Limited but no such thing on the Special Edition?

Also, I saw that they're still selling the Wedge helmet? Didn't these ship yet? The Luke XWing is selling for double the price but the Wedges are still around? I'm confused ..

Hmm.... End of April and no word. Site has been down for a week or more.
I do have a deluxe one on order, hope these do make it out soon.

I just got a hasbro marvel legends toy helmet. Am cancelling my pre order with EFX. They are a f disgrace. They are just crap compared to master replicas. I sold my EFX x-wing for great money but it was painted by a demented monkey.
A fool and his money are soon parted - motto for EFX
