DST WOK PHASER... Who got theirs?!?

I normally don't hit the comic shop but I will today. No clue if they will even have it. Would these be at Blockbuster? I heard they carry stuff like this.

I dunno. But the best bet would maybe be a comic shop for now. It's distributed (and sold) by Diamond Select, which is the only remaining comic distributor. If they're sending them everywhere, they may prioritize comic shops. Maybe.

Two words.

RAPID FIRE!!!!!

(y)thumbsup

You pull the trigger again while the phaser is already firing, it fires it again without waiting for the sound effect to end!

:love:love:love

Only issue I have is the trigger on both Type 1 and Type 2 phasers. They make the loudest click noise.

Somebody chime in when they get the TMP version. :love

Regards the triggers, yeah for WOK they have a solid grip except for that little cylindrical trigger that was added.

vs TMP

Max Cervantes had this piece on display at Worldcon in 2006, but because of the context I assumed it was a replica, possibly an HMS/Roddenberry.

Regards the light-sequencing, the chasing lights are seen in the film after the beamover to Regula One, when McCoy sets his phaser to "kill" by accident. :lol

I never noticed the pinky divits on the pistol grip before. Are they visible on the large version of the screen-used?

Are they actually putting out a TMP version, or are you just funnin' us?:love

Pinky divot is evident on the screenused piece in Paul Allen's Seattle Sci Fi Experience museum

An old casting in my collection also has the divots.... I supposed it was an AIM, but I have a pic in my files labeled "Miarecki", which looks just like it

I've got one on order but I thought I might see if my local comic book guy had one and - sure enough, he did. Initially I was just going to look at it and see what kind of features it had; yeah right, I walked out with it. :lol

While the color is wrong, the sound and light effects More than make up for it! The light sequences up to the selected setting, very cool. The setting also dictates the number of LEDs that are lit in the emitter. Overall a very nice piece! Well worth the money.

The only other issues is the holo tape is solid instead of faceted, I swapped mine out for the right stuff straight away. Have a look...

Not too bad, I think.

I tried to fix the highlights and shadows on your "right tape" pic.

OK so the WOK phaser is molded in silver plastic? I guess the correct color would have been a darker bluegray? I have never been clear on what color the TMP and WOK versions are "supposed" to be, they look different in every photo I've seen of them. :lol

I've seen the Seattle one in person as well as the one Cervantes showed at Worldcon... they seem to be a distinctly blue metallic gray... but those are the WOK version, I thought it was the TMP one that tended towards blue. Maybe they are both the same color in reality. :eek

I got my holo paper at JoAnn fabrics about a year ago, it was on sale for .50! I went back to stock up about a month ago and they no longer had any in stock. That is not to say It wouldn't be available elsewhere, it is certainly worth a look.

If anything, I've got plenty - so I could provide some for those that need or want it.

I guess I shouldn't say 'right stuff' perhaps more accurate stuff? Either way, yes, the DST is painted silver. Wrong color. The ones I've seen in person have been light metallic blue. Although, on sceen they appear mostly silver. I guess that's what DST was basing thier colors on.

The TMP is light anthracite gray; an automotive color from that time period. I'm unsure as to whether or not it is currently available.

Gah! Someone needs to make an instruction site on how to make the buttons much smoother than they already are. The loud clicks are getting on my nerves!

:angry:angry

So is it everyone's opinion that this new DS is pretty accurate to the real prop, aside from the color?
