DRIVE (2011) Scorpion Satin Jacket

I must be the only one who thinks indy's jacket looks off.

Maybe in person it looks and feels better but I wasn't blown away.

I think the interior looks amazing. The outer layer looks cool, the satin looks different, but the scorpion material looks.. off. Indy, do you think it would benefit if someone sent you a Steady Jacket for help?

Having a Steady in hand certainly couldn't hurt (unless our production floor starts adding snaps to the collar or looking for thinner quality ribbing)...

Here is a firebird back we just finished for someone:

Indy I have never owned anything truely tailored to my specs, so when I got your jacket and threw it on... I said "******, this is best thing since sliced bread" I instantly thew a toothpick in my mouth, set my ringtone to "The Tick of the Clock" and jumped in my car for a drive. The first thing I noticed is that this isn't like ready to fit styled items. When I reached for the steering wheel, the sleeves slightly pulled up and I panicked. I thought oh **** I screwed up the measurements I must now panic.

Anyways to wrap up this tale, I then went on a crusade to find out how Gosling's jacket fit him which then lead me to love this jacket even more. Through out the movie the scenes of him driving with the satin jacket he also has a jean jacket underneath. Drivers jackets sleeves pull up as well!! In fact I compared our sleeves and they are identical, the jean sleeve is what is close to his Gaspar driving gloves. Now you may be sitting there thinking, "wow who cares, Indy got the cut right... big whoop" But in reality, I never expected this jacket to fit a 208 pound 6'1 guy like it did Gosling... I thought it would be close but not this close. Lets face it, Driver wasn't shooting hoops in his awesome drive jacket.

My review went from 9.5/10 to a straight 10 across the floor.

alright guys i went through this thread and i cant find anything for the life of me haha everywhere that i was able to find was sold out of the gloves so could any of you guys that got them recently help me out with a link or something? thanks!!

I got my 7D back from Canon today so I'll get a second shooter or w.e to come take a flick or two of me.
Cool, look forward to seeing. Might be interested in getting an all black jacket without a patch, just curious how the fit is on Indy's.

A note about fit: these are made to measure! So you can have it skin-tight or shaped like a garbage bag. The measurements you provide is what you'll receive. Not only do we get chest, shoulders, stomach and sleeve length, but you can also provide armhole, high-arm, mid-arm and cuff widths.

Hi I'm new to the site. Few questions for the good folks here who know quite a bit about the differences in the various replica jackets available. Overall, which jacket is the best in terms of quality and fit (Magnoli, I assume)? Which exact features make one type better than the other(s)? Magnoli is certainly more expense than the Steady version or other versions available on eBay, which I appreciate given their tailored production process, etc. Just curious to hear how discernible the difference is.

Also, has anyone had any issues returning the jacket to Steady or through any eBay merchants (most are UK-based, I believe).

Finally - any pictures of the black version? This is probably the version I would go with, or maybe the ivory san-scorpion. I dig RG's style but have my own as well..

TIA,
Ryan

I can't speak to the actual difference but the Magnoli jacket is very high quality. I've heard the later revisions of the steady jacket feature a higher quality elasitc/ribbed material then the early versions.

Here is the Indy's post in regards to the black version of the Drive jacket.

Here's a teaser shot of a "black-gold" version we're making:

Thanks chongo. Only problem w magnolia is 3 month lead time.. The issue w steady is they wont let u order without the scorpion.

Does anyone have any experience w the UK-based eBay merchants? They allow more customization than steady, but not clear how the quality is

Any other options to get jacket timely without scorpion?

Thanks

I wasn't aware of the eBay merchants doing custom work but I'm 99% sure Indy is the only one doing custom Drive jackets. Personally I wouldn't want to order a jacket without it being tailor made. Sometimes waiting is a good thing.

Basically, Steady has less accurate brown trim material. It has a snap button on the collar (incorrect). It doesn't have the quilting over the scorpion. BUT, it has the most accurate satin color and most accurate embroidery.

Magnoli's has top-notch quality, more accurate brown material, no snap collar (correct). BUT his scorpion is slightly less accurate. Only slightly. Plus you get completely custom fit with Magnoli.
