Drive is the movie that changed my life. I have never been so sucked into a film. The film changed my artistic point of view on everything. It changed my taste in music, clothing and how I am as a person.
So after becoming completely sucked into the lifestyle of the Driver, I needed to get the goods. I acquired plenty of Henley's (mostly white), some nice jeans, grey Stacy Adam's Madison Boots, brown leather driving gloves, denim jacket, and every Chromatic's, Desire, Electric Youth, College, Kavinsky and Glass Candy song I could find.
Now, I was missing something. The most iconic piece. The satin jacket. I originally ordered one of the Scorpion jackets off eBay, thinking it would be great.
I was wrong.
The jacket was terrible. The so called "XS" was huge. It made me feel like a giant marshmellow. The quality of fabric and stitching alone left a lot to be desired. In the film, the jacket is seen as an ivory, off white color. In the sunlight, it almost looks golden. The eBay jacket is a snow white color. Completely innaccurate. Not only that, the diamond quilt were way to big. The sleeve gussets were nonexistent. The jacket was extremely long. The collar came up to my ears. The embroided scorpion on the back of the jacket is probably the only reason it sold. Oh, and the zipper broke.
So then I found a member on the RPF by the username of "shanegrohl". He was offering custom "Drive" jackets. Once I saved up some money, I ordered one.
Put it this way: Nicest person I have ever dealt with in my life.
Seriously, shanegrohl has been the nicest in helping me get my jacket. I literally can not thank the guy enough.
And the jacket was beautiful. The XS fit me perfectly. Just like the jacket fit Gosling in the film. I felt like I was wearing a fresh set of skin. The fabric and stitching is top notch, inside and out. The diamonds are the correct size and the fabric has that perfect ivory/golden color. It looks like it just fell out of my TV. Driving through the night, the fabric reflects the lights and creates a beautiful image. The sleeve gussets are excellent. Exact size as in the film, which is one of my favorite parts of the jacket. The jacket was the perfect length. Came down just around my belt line. The collar is the right size. I can pop it and feel like a complete idiot. The zipper is really high quality and is very easy to work with.
What might turn a lot of people off from the jacket is the lack of the scorpion. I was happier without it. With the lack of the scorpion on this jacket, it allowed me to create my own character. I really love this factor. So, if you love the "Drive" jacket because of the scorpion...go on eBay and buy one of those terrible jackets.
So, yeah. If you want an amazing jacket and the chance to deal with an excellent person, I suggest getting this jacket.
