DRIVE (2011) Scorpion Satin Jacket

Just emailed Eric from Steady about the diamond stitching going over scorpion. We'll see what he say about that.
Damn, I wish they could change that. Maybe make another run with jacket. It would be awesome even if they are more expensive. I would cancel order that I placed. If the design is inaccurate including scorpion and stitching I will definitely return this jacket!

I'm sure all those who want the jacket to be authentic as possible will be willing to pay more for Indy's jacket. No need to get all up in arms over Steady's stitching.

^ Well, when they show the real jacket in the pictures, and then tell people that it'll look just like the jacket from the film (even though we see from the early images that it won't), people order it, and then they finally make it known that it won't look just like the Drive jacket, it's a little disappointing.

For me personally, even if I got weird looks, I would know what I have on and how badass it is. If it isn't as authentic as possible, then I'll just feel like an ******* in an outlandish scorpion jacket.

I'm pretty sure Steady"s repro will be for everyday wear. I mean, they do manufacture clothing as a business so I wouldn't worry about the jacket being merely a costume piece. However, I do feel that since they had a screen used jacket, they should have copied it exactly, stitching and all. If you are going to market it as such and then even go as far as stating in emails that it is "exactly like the original" and then the final product is not SA, customers have a right to be a little pissed.
I just wish that the "design" or whatever wasn't copyrighted, that way I could have had Lim himself make me one. Would have been the same in terms of cost because not only having ordered Steadys, people are now looking to shell out an additional $350 for Magnolis. If there is one thing I have learned, is that if you want ultimate SA, then always stick with the original, if you can. Who knows though, we are all being a but negative. Maybe this jacket will just blow us all away when we get it...

Hey guys,
what exactly would differentiate a jacket like this from costume/everyday wear ? Is it the materials used, or the quality of this stitching ? Is it just an overall matter of quality ?

Could those of us who bought from Steady not have someone sew over the scorpion? Wouldn't there be plenty of capable tailors who could do something like that or am I missing something?

Here's everything together, minus the denim jacket (wearing it was roasting me!).

I wanted to wear it everywhere! It's November 1st and I still wanna wear this get up. :lol

I just got email from Eric and he said that fabric gets quilted on the roll while they embroid the scorpion so it's not possible for them to do it - that's crazy. Now it seems to me that they don't know what they are doing!!!!!!
So yeah I'm sort of pissed off because they said that this jacket will look exactly the same as the one from the movie and putting picture of screen used jacket on their web page as their own is just shady.
It seems that they sell a lot of tshirts, shirts and simple cut sweatshirts. Maybe dive scorpion jacket is too much for them to handle/

I was thinking about going to my tailor and ask him to put finishing touches like diamond stitching on top on scorpion but it all depends on how thick is scorpion. If there are other details that are inaccurate I will return it to getgoretro.

Really?

I understand this is a replica site, but like defyitall said you guys need to calm down about this stitching. I really don't think that complaining to them will change anything, they already said in an e-mail that it's because of the costs. So unless you convince them to raise the price, it's not happening. If you want a replica, get Indy's. You get what you pay for, and Indy isn't charging $350 for no reason.

As for the use of the film used jacket for the pictures, wasn't that cleared up a long time ago? Why does it feel like I was the only one aware of that now?

And we don't know if the assembly line pictures of the embroidering is the final product, so you shouldn't be passing it as fact (can't remember who that was).

I have finally come to the realization that it is useless to continue to complain about the stitching on this jacket. I have received another reply from Steady and they said the jackets are currently in production at their contractors. Hoping for some photos soon.

just got email from getgoretro

"The jackets are still on schedule for November 15th. However, both Ryan Gosling and the Film District have updated the size chart.
Please read the paragraph below. : )
If you think you need to change your size; please let me know right away so I can switch the size. If you don't need to change anything --- please don't email me. Your size will stay the same.
I'm sorry about the new update; however, Gosling wants it right .... as it should be : )"

So basically they say that Ryan Gosling is involved in this project and wants it right?
How about fixing that stitching on top of scorpion.

Yeah, really. It's too late now, but I did contact FilmDistrict a few days ago and I guess they didn't see it in time.

I wish they showed their jacket. I'm wondering when they gonna post those pics on the blog.

still using the same pics as before although they did list the key features of the jacket toward the bottom such as it having a "gold zipper" as well as a "silver snap on the collar" which is a detail I had not noticed before...My guess is that some new pics will surface very soon either on the blog or the page as the actual shipping date for the first run is within two weeks...
