DRIVE (2011) Scorpion Satin Jacket

Well coming to the final details of the production... And little did I know up until asking the manufacturer. They cannot print Patek Philippe on the dial?! Obviously due to copy write infringement laws so on and so forth- that and it wouldnt make it past customs. Sooo Im kind of in awe of the situation consider all the time thats been put into the project thus far. What should I do guys? The manufacture has said tho they can put just about anything on it.. i thought i would be kind of sweet to put the "DRIVE" logo on it... idk. suggestion suggestions. anyone know of any capable horologist that would consider printing after production? Im sorta at a stand still/loss. @__@

Nope, imo putting anything other than Patek Philippe on it would ruin the watch. I've purchased replica watches overseas before, and got in touch with one of the manufacturers recently when I was abroad. They couldn't manufacture the watch, but I think printing the PP logo shouldn't be a big problem. I'm not going again until late July, though.

Having the Drive logo in place of the Patek Philipe one would be really really neat! :thumbsup
Of course it wouldn't be one hundred percent screen accurate, but it would be a nice unique little touch. Also, if at some point long after your death the watch is still in your family's possession and your great-grandchildren sell it to get by, they will not be persecuted for selling fake brand-name antique watches! :lol

Yeah, I kinda think so too.. I'm not buying the boots until I have everything else. I have a pair of boots that would work but if at the end I still think that I have to have the Stacy Adams, I might go for it or look harder. Thanks for the advice though.

Googling that website and reading reviews has led me to believe that it is definitely a scam.

Hi Guys,

So I've been browsing this thread for the last 5 months and have really enjoyed seeing all of you get your costumes together as well as all the research you've undertaken!

I thought I'd say hi and show you my progress so far.

Henley

I managed to pick up x3 of these from H&M for the bargain price of £6.99 each. Really happy with the fit but just wish I managed to get more - keeping an eye out for Magnoils when they hit the shop.

Jeans

Picked up some cheap ones from H&M again which matched the Acne's in terms of design. Off to London next month so hoping to grab a pair of max raws as don't really want to buy online as unsure of sizing for these.

Watch

Got the Skagen and love it.

Boots

Stacy Adams arrived yesterday off ebay - really love them and actually comfy!

Jacket

Steady clothing size M - I'm 6ft, 11.5 stone and do a lot of gym work and it fits great - not constricting at all and can get a denim jacket under it also.

Pride and Joy

I managed to get no 144 out of 150 of James White's Drive posters and have finally got round to framing it.

So thats pretty much what I have at the moment - hoping to get the acne max raws next month as well as the gaspar gloves then I'll pretty much be content.

well I say content but hoping to grab more henleys in different colours when I find suitable ones as well as a few more pairs of the madisons as really love them.

Nice! I have the white ones now but I'm thinking of getting other colors. Gosling owns several colors. The cool thing about the black boots is they were used in the film as well.

Yeah, it's BS. I emailed those guys asking about them a year ago and never got a reply. After seeing the post here, I decided to email them again asking if they truly indeed have them...you guessed it....NO REPLY.

Buyer beware on those.

Anyway, my hats off to those lucky enough to have gotten the boots around the time DRIVE was released (yes, the taupe was still available on Amazon within a few weeks after the movie came out, though I am unsure if that is when they were discontinued or they were discontinued prior to DRIVE and those were remaining pairs left for sale). I knew of the boots the day I saw the movie, which was opening night, as I already the black pair as my dress/work boots, I looked them up online when I got home from the movie and the Taupe was still available, though in few sizes by then, on Amazon. Within a few weeks later no more to be found...ANYWHERE.

Well, if you can get a hold of these watches and get the Patek logo printed on it, you guys will have an actual screen accurate duplicate rather than the look-alikes to satisfy :)

Yeah but it's a big 'if'. No one here has any idea how to get a hold of them, and those that do, aren't sharing. Let's hope Drivr's replicas resemble it though. Besides the logo, we also have to print the 'swiss made' at the 6 o clock position.

I still think rub-on decals are an option. They don't have very visible seams and I assume are easy enough to get printed.

Ive looked this watch up and down and this thang actually is super close but is far from being close to the ones in the movie. it resembles it hence the case is bigger the dial is a silver matte finish if none would disagree and the hands are not extended at the base and the outer case arms are considerably thinner... but I would take this any day for 20 bucks... sheesh. as for the rub on decals not a bad idea... i might have to check into that... as for the final touches... i requested if swiss made could be printed on either side of the 6 oclock... waiting on hearing back regarding that... but if not gonna keep it clean and simple!

I gotta ask tho... did anyone get the drive jacket in the first run from steady? every time i wear mine I get more irritated with the ribbing fabric... so ghetto. Ive got a tailor that said hed hook it up with new ribbing fabric... but mmm I just might go with Indys rendition without the scorpion... Indy by the way have you done any more adjustments to the scorpion by chance? either way way better quality steadys reminds me of a cardboard hut.

I do believe that is off the same line as the screen used ones. I have one really close to the real one, with a silver face, but under just a little light, it appears white. I assure you under those studio lights, it will look white. Hence that great shot from Argo. I wouldn't doubt on it being silver faced. A member here has the watch and it looked silver in his picture.

I got one from the first production run. I actually didn't mind the ribbing fabric as it actually was a lot lighter-softer than the later production runs. It was barely ribbing if you even want to call it that. However, the fit and feel of the jacket felt overall much better than the recent production runs. I got a Large from the 1st run and it fit me PERFECTLY, I could even wear my Levis Trucker underneath and still zip up the Steady jacket over it and it didn't look bulky at all. I ended up getting another Steady jacket from the later run because they apparently changed the ribbing to be a little more screen accurate as I wanted to do a "bloody variant", but the sizing was totally whack now! Having originally purchased a Large, I once again got a Large from the current run and it fit me like a Medium..if even! I cannot in any way wear this one over my Levis jacket! In fact, it's even tight over my henley!! And the ribbing? Meh..a little better and more accurate than the 1st run but you're right, still kind of ghetto IMHO. If I had the $ I would go Magnoli all the way! :wacko

You know, with most of the items still available (except the Taupe Madisons...i won't mention the henleys as they were vintage anyway) and the popularity of this film, even as a cult film, I don't understand why nobody has made a real replica of the watch yet? If this was a Johnny Depp film, the Japanese market would have had exact copies of this watch already within a few months. It's been now a year and half since the film and nothing. I've been to Chinatown and saw close copies...but nothing yet. After Casino Royale, EXACT replicas of the Omegas hit the "underground-bootleg market" within a matter of 2 months! There are dozens of sites that carry replica watches of Patek and other expensive brands of course but no replica done of this one as highly desired as it is from all us fans of the film! I've even looked at teh Asian markets which replicate every darn popular movie & TV item...and nuthin'! WTH?! :confused

If youd carefully look up above your post... Im in the process of manufacturing replicas... that is as accurately as possible but due to the fact of copy write infringement laws and customs the production cant put the initial patek philippe on the dial or swiss made@__@ but that will come later after production.. well see.
The original drive watches are legitimately Patek made timepieces hence the entirety of the labeling, and engravings on the backside of the case...

I'm going to have to disagree with you. They weren't real Patek's. There was too much of a risk during filming that they'd be damaged. There were 7 watches I believe, and to get 7 watches from Patek would be astronomically expensive even for that movie.

My belief of the german made replica is as close as it can get to the actual one. however that watch was obviously made far before Drive ever came out. The date on that forum when it was sold was back in 2009... thats 2 years before the movie even came out... Im not implying anything else but the fact that the hands are obviously very different. but id say everything else to the average eye is pretty spot on... Respect on your find tho rots.
