So are they doing two different versions? I'm not an ATST guy but this looks pretty badass. Is it any more accurate than that other version we saw?

I don't know, I've not been too keen on most of the stuff they've shown so far, but this new AT ST looks pretty good to me, compared to the large scale model from Jedi.

Has anybody seen any new developments with these models? I'm sitting on a big pile of money I saved up in anticipation of the AT-AT, but if it isn't going to happen there are other things I would like to spend the money on...

If that's the 1/35 AT-AT, the photo looks as if the panel lines are a bit wide, and the detail is a bit rounded. It doesn't look too bad if it's 1/144 though.

Oops. Sorry. Looked at the facebook site after I posted. It is indeed 1/144.

Looking at what they showed off at the end of July, I don't know if they will be worth a 'big pile of money'

I'll decide if it is worth it when I see some production pieces. I'm not going to decide based on some mockups. I just don't want to be sitting here with a bunch of my entertainment budget tied up if they are pushing back the release date to next year or if the model is going to end up being vaporware. Some of Dragon's models are really good and some of them are junk, and they have announced more than one product that they never delivered, so I was just hoping somebody had a contact in the industry who knew what is going on, or if maybe there was an update I had missed.

STILL going with the knees bent the wrong way? Sheesh.....
The builders didn't appreciate that the "hip" (shoulder?) joints go up and down to allow for the varying distance from ground to hull as the leg moves through its arc. This is required to maintain a reasonably level body during the gait without a huge 'rolling' motion.

Without articulation in the 'hips', then the knee is the only joint that can accomodate the movement, which is most likely the reason the builders did what they did...

Sorry no new news
I just wonder if Dragon build these prototypes and show us and then try to get them approved and the say..... no it looks crap/wrong go back and work on it. This could be the reason why no kits have been released yet.

Given that they stated a 2016 release, I don't think it qualifies as "vaporware" quite yet. But the lack of updates/info from them *is* concerning...

Maybe it could be a good sign, that they've realized they needed to rework the design to counter the rather less than enthusiastic reception so far and are working to improve the kits?

I can only hope.. A new hope if you will...

;-)

According to their FB page, they seem good to go, but just waiting for some sort of approval.

Quote;
'Dragon Models- Dear all, please note it is up to LucasFlims / Disney for us to release relevant Star Wars information. Of course if we had it our way, the products would be out ages ago! Thank you for your patience!'

Don't know how these things work, but you'd have thought approval/licences would have been sorted out some time ago?

I couldn't agree more, seems a bit backward to make prototypes and start to promote a product when the license are still being negotiated.

I think the license is already negotiated. I don't believe that LF/Disney would allow any company to breathe a word about products they are releasing without the license being in place. Individual products have to be approved at several levels before being released to the public. Its quite a labourious process. Nothing saying they can't lose the license to non-compliance of the terms of the agreement, though.

Didn't that happen with Zvedza?

They produced a Pirates of the Carribean Black Swan kit, I believe it even got to the final stage, then something happened and they wound up not getting the license from Disney. They had to scramble last minute and change the packaging and do an alternate tooling for some of the defining features like the figure on the prow and release it as a generic "pirate ship"
