DR Who-Sonic Design Competition (winners announced)

I was so impressed with these submissions I was tempted submit my own. However, it became clear that I was outmatched from the start! The judges really came through but as has been said, building that thing will definitely be a challenge. Personally, I can't wait to see it in action! :thumbsup :cool

Great comp, was good to be involved. Well done to the winners and to everyone else that entered.

Oh and good luck making the winning sonic Rassilon, rather you than me!
Cant wait to see it made up.

Now, I thought that the master would guide the young apprentice through such tuff build times. Doctor49152 has sent me some of the sonic design secrets, so its not all that bad.

Will be making a start on the cad drawings in the next week or so, once I get the other tuff sent out the the 2nd and 3rd place getters.

That was fun...except for having to narrow it down to just 5 of the designs and put them in an order. I tried to go beyond just using my personal likes and dislikes in design elements and look at the designs for their unique creativity, how they could tie in with the legacy of existing designs even if it was just a tiny hint, and tried to envision how they would look as an actual prop and not just on the screen.

It's a shame that Rassilon will only be making one design a reality as so many of them would make fantastic props. I want to thank everyone that ventured in and contributed and I hope this inspires everyone that has an idea on a custom sonic to put into the next contest.

On a personal note, I am flattered beyond words to have been part of a panel that included two of the most notable legends in the world of Sonic Screwdrivers. Thanks to Nick and Russ for accepting my company and thanks most of all to Keith for making this whole thing happen.

Now I'm looking forward to enjoying the build thread that will come of this no matter how long it takes to make the winner's design a reality.

well gone guys was great fun to take part in despite not placing, soon as i saw the winning design i said to myself thats the winner i just looks the part very cool stuff, and what a great community effort on the judges orange-blend and rassilons part.

Congrats again to all. I think this has run it's course now so I'll ask that it be "unstuck". Feel free to continue to post though!

:)

I'll start a thread called Sonic Contest Build and start putting some other renders and tests I've done while figuring out how the whole thing goes together

NTBBCPD, have sent your Tardis A1 manufacturing drawing of to you by standard post, so I would think that you may see them in about 10 days or so.

I was away for most of August, so congratulations to the winners! Lots of great entries in there!

I wish to heck I had uploaded a smaller image - I had no idea it was that big. When I clicked the Spoiler button on my entry in the Competitor Summary post, I scared myself.

:lol

No worries mate, I could put the attachments in the spoilers so I had to post the full images. Can't say they didn't get a close up look at your design though!

I was hoping for the Judges to say what they liked about their top 5. Any chance guys? Also if anyone wants to have a go at building mine let me know!

I would just like to also say a big thanks to those who contacted me to say how much they liked my take on the Sonic. It meant a lot :)

TARDIS key comp next? ;)

I'll have to go back through my notes.

I'd also like to hear what many of the people that followed this thread or contributed to it liked about various entrants too.

Now that sounds like a good idea. I had a few favourites, will sort out a list of mine
