Magic Tricks & Props, Making A “Working” Sonic Screwdriver

From sleight-of-hand, misdirection, or close-up magic, have you ever mixed any magic tricks in with a prop build?

I got a Dr. Who replica of Troughton’s Whistle, the first sonic screwdriver prop from the TV series in the 60’s, made by Little Shop Props who scanned and 3D printed the vintage Life Jacket whistle used for the prop.

Wanting to give it some functionality, I combined it with a popular trick sold at magic shops, the rotating bolt & nut.

Now, just like in the TV show, I can point the sonic (whistle) at the bolt and the nut unscrews itself.

You can see it in action on my YouTube channel:

I’ve heard some people combine a key fob with a sonic screwdriver prop which sounds fun too.
