15 bucks?! Who the hell is charging that for a single part?!

Sigh, I need to get more silicone. I’m in the process of making a solid version with holes for screws as an experiment for myself, maybe ill make more

Even though it’s not confirmed.
Revell did - for a spare part..

Well I think that Hoth mystery disk cover might remain that for quite some time unless there are some hi res on set pics that we don’t know about. Looks like the cover itself was lost somewhere in HOTH…

Is it the view that during filming, the MGC props (ESB onwards) had brown grips, but sometime after filming these were repainted to be black for some of the props such as the hoth and one ROTJ blaster?

As far as I can tell the only ROTJ MGC that was actually in the movie is this one:

and apparently it is still with brown grips like in the movie.

For the other 2 ROTJ MGCs is hard to tell when the grips were. I've only seen post-production pictures of the MGC with one scope ring - from the archives or exhibitions where the grips are already black.
The other one has one b/w photo floating around that should be pre-production:

but if that's brown or black grips is kind of hard to tell. If I remember correctly, in his auction interview Schoppe said it was given to him during filming when Harrison broke it, so if that's true the grips were black already during filming.

I apologize for the poor quality, I don't have 4k access really but there are at least two blasters on set in California.

It looks like they threw two on the ground so he had a choice to grab one during the body flip stunt!

I don't have access to my screen grabs at the moment - is the one that he picks up also a MGC? I have tried to figure out if these are 2 mgcs or one mgc and the stembridge on the ground. I ultimately decided one of them was the stembridge ...but I can't remeber why and I could be wrong about it.

Only thing that makes me think that they might be MGCs and not the Stembridge is that they might not use a live fire for a stunt with them laying on the ground but your guess is as good as mine.

intuitive thought process... I checked because my memory was incorrect, he doesn't fire the gun in that shot. I imagine with the crowd of people and the dude he flipped over they also may have not opted to fire a blank right there, this is why I'm guessing two MGCs but we really dont know lol

Odd there would be two MGCs though. Why not just pick the one up off the floor? Must be the Stembridge surely

I reckon for ROTJ they had two MGCs painted black, then the brown grip MGC and the Stembridge.

Two of the MGCS are identical builds, whilst the third (no scope cap) is constructed differently (perhaps built later).

I also ask, do we think the Hoth blaster had black painted grips? Or is that a post production thing (Id say an odd thing to do!)

There could be a myriad of reasons for the redressing of a prop. Continuity, lighting, how it looks on film, actor gripe, whim of George Lucas, the list is endless.

I'm researching for my build of an RotJ MGC Solo Blaster. Thought I'd drop in the copy from the Julien's online catalog for the "Schoppe" blaster, don't know if it will add anything to the conversation but nice to have it at hand:
