Disney could sell Lucasfilm ?

Although I have posted several times I don't think I've made it clear I don't believe Lucas will buy back LFL, ltd.

BUT, would Disney consider letting Sony (or another major studio) license Star Wars for a period of time, say 10-15 years? Before you dismiss the idea Sony is working with Bad Wolf to make Doctor Who for the BBC, and the BBC has a limited role inputting ideas. Would another studio want such an arrangement with selected Disney properties?

Would it win back fans if new creatives were in charge of Star Wars?

This is all nothing more than speculation on my part. That said, Disney is in trouble. I do think they will need to make some tough decisions, and I could see them selling or licensing out IP.

And the PT. And holiday special. And two ewok movies… brilliantly made masterpieces.

Chef’s kiss.
Yeah, dismiss 6 movies that changed pop culture and film making as we know it and put emphasis on the fun, made for TV kiddie movies to salvage an argument on the very first movie touched under the new Lucasfilm regime under KK and forget they were gifted a golden ticket and took Star Wars down to the trash compacter so the Oompa Loompas could start a new song just for them. Please...And the PT, which i didn't like, even having the story telegraphed was better than the ST. The real point will be made as time goes on as to what Trilogy is the most forgettable...and which one did the most damage. No question the ST fits both. If it is remembered it will only be for it's stench and abysmal writing, directing and handling of EVERY character , whether new or old accept for maybe Poe...but that's it. Congrats Lucasfilm, you blew your engine on the very first Hot Rod you purchased.!!

People always give me funny looks when I say this, but I think the prequels are ripe to be remade.

Think about it. The characters are solid. The overall story structure is darn good. The production design is good. It has a fan base. The movies are already pushing 20-25 years old. The biggest weak points in the originals are stuff that any decent average creative team could improve: Rickety CGI, painful dialogue, and too much screen time being spent on certain aliens & political intrigue.

Lucas's strong points are all there. Now somebody needs to give it another pass and trim out his weak points.

And once you have a better version of the PT next to the OT, then the low quality of the ST will be too obvious to ignore. If Disney won't disown the ST then at least the public will. The public rejects weak 'Terminator' and 'Alien' sequels all the time.

And yet Disney/Lucasfilm was like...

Yeah fans dismiss Andor and a lot of the great work being done cuz they’re butt hurt things didn’t go their way.

Btw I liked those ewok movies… but I’ve seen all this same discord over those and the PT movies: bad is bad.

PT was so bad it officially killed Star Wars being special.

So bad it created millionaires out of shlubs from Milwaukee (and thus drew terrible copycats who realized you could monetize nerd rage)

But now I just tune it out and enjoy what I enjoy.

And Andor was dope. There were great eps of Mando. TFA was fun. TLJ was sorta fun. Rogue One was cool design.

People pretending all Disney Star Wars is crap and Lucas was infallible are rewriting history

And I don’t want history rewritten. The holiday special being a special kinda bad became one of my fave things to watch at Christmas.

It’s my dream to do a re edit… there are so many ways to go about it.

Ramble ramble

George had almost nothing to do with the Holiday Special and no one ever claimed that he was infallible. Dude released just as much crap as he did good. The difference is that he had a vision where it's evident that Lucasfilm under Disney doesn't. He also created some of the most iconic films of all time. Disney may have made a few decent things with the brand but nothing that could ever come close to what George did.

He literally changed the world. That's a person you might find once in a lifetime. His importance has only been overstated since 2012 because some fans constantly use it as a cudgel to defend any decision Disney makes good or bad.

Tell that to the kids who grew up with it. Yes we recognize it was garbage, now. But back then we loved it. It was coolest thing ever. But that was helped by the plethora of PT tie ins. Toys as far as the eye could see. Games, comics, books, and an epic cartoon.

We're going to see something similar with some of the new content. Kids that grow up with those, will grow up loving that stuff. (Though they don't get aisles upon aisles of toys.)

Sony??

Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire...

Nothing of any real inportance is or has been damaged. What I mean is, that it is all just fluff really. Just media that nobody is forced to watch, nor does it really matter in the grand scheme of life.
Now I agree with you 100% about that but the context i was referring to was within the Star Wars Skywalker legacy

Yeah fans dismiss Andor and a lot of the great work being done cuz they’re butt hurt things didn’t go their way.
Honestly, not butt hurt...brain hurt trying to figure out any reasoning behind their decisions and as far as the rest of your comments...I can see the point you're trying to make and i can meet you half way on a lot but the best of what Disney star Wars has produced has come outside of the ST. We didn't need a Solo Movie, or a Rogue One...We don't need prequel upon prequel and filler upon filler especially when the ST was so bad. So, you went out to a restaurant and ordered a Ribeye, asparagus and potatoes. They destroyed the ribeye and asparagus, the dessert was ok but got the potatoes spot on. No one is leaving that restaurant raving about how good the food was when it was just the potatoes that were good. If anyone happened to ask you where you could get great potatoes then you'd know where to send them. On a different note:

I would like to acknowledge your points about the constant negativity. I get it...i really do. I hate being negative just as much as you hate hearing about it. I personally am not trying to rob anyone of joy they might have with all this. I'm just giving my opinion. I admit, we ALL go to the extremes on our points and at times we take things personal and i admit, i fail at times with my communication and can be snarky. I need to improve on that. I was wrong throwing the Chefs kiss back in your face...it was childish and i'm sorry about that, truly. I'm trying to recover from nerve damage in my leg, extremely painful and my patience is very low( all on me) and i sort of literally am butt hurt right now lol...but i don't want to disclose any more medical problems on here. Like Vanpersie said, in the grand scheme of things this is just entertainment and unimportant especially when so many on these forums behind the scenes are really going through hard times and can't get out in public too much so they come here to find some positivity, i get it. I think we all, on either side of our arguments/opinions hold to our extremities to our own peril. But we do have to remain truthful about things and call a spade a spade. We might have to admit we are wrong, not push how right we think we are...besides, who am I? Why does my voice need to be heard? It really doesn't but that's not to say i don't value the thoughts of others even if i don't totally agree with them. I am throwing out an olive branch here because, i've failed at communication and have taken things personally at times...I get sick of hearing my own rants and need to stop and i don't want to push anyone away from these forums. Unfortunately, the pioneer days are over for Star Wars. Perhaps another hungry story teller could rise out of the ashes and communicate his/her vision to an audience that will catch the imaginations of their hearts but then again, that's putting a lot of weight on one person and all of us have our own story to tell.

No negativity is a bad as well. I don’t like pretending bad cinema is good for the sake of positivity:… I mean I was super pissy about Rogue One, and I’ll fight anyone who says Beau is Afraid is a masterpiece.

Im in Annecy at an animation festival and the vibe here you’d think everything was 100% positivity all sides.

Film is just escapism for me… and so was this forum… unfortunately there are bad elements in the Hollywood machine making things tough to ignore when trying to remember it’s a art form I enjoy.

Lucas IS a genius. He’s also a businessman. Maybe those two are so ingrained in the IP they’re permanently bonded

Even the idea that “Star Wars” is up for sale is crazy.

This!!! Right here is a very unifying sentiment that i think we all can embrace

Thank you for saying this. This is awesome!!!

I would love to see Lucas get his baby back. I think he has a few more good Star Wars films in that noggin of his. I'd like to see his take on some of the EU stuff. I'm concerned about what Disney is gonna do with the Thrawn story. It's my favorite SW book series. Hope they don't Boba it. Hollyweird has already flubbed several of my favorite books to film. The Dark Tower, The Witching Hour, ect. Why can't these yahoos just follow the freakin stories. It's all right there in the books. I know you have to tighten them up to fit in 2 to 3 hours, but come on. When I bake a cake, I follow the damn recipe. It's always ideology over story. Almost everyone now. They never learn. Oh well, we always have the books. They're better anyway.
