Deagostini Falcon. Anyone seen this?

Bugger waiting that long Spacejunk lol it's easy to do just go to shipto website and sign up and they give you a USA address to have stuff sent to then you can have them ship it to you from there. I use it to buy heaps of stuff from the US that wont ship here works really well. If your impatient like me and you can't wait till 2016 then it's worth getting an account :)

If people from the Australia are keen to know prices i'll add up the total cost when the first shipment arrives and post here.

Thats gonna suck if the Aus dollar drops against the US. Hopefully it stays the same.

True but I bought the first one at 0.77 and it's gone up to 0.80 I don't think it will drop more than that but still better than waiting till 2016 if Australia gets it at all. Will probally end up costing $2,200 or about so I hope I do a good job lol

Looks like we are getting a new nose cone in an upcoming issue....

"We have commissioned (and approved the prototype) of a replacement (2 part) cockpit nose to the correct specification which will shortly be put into production.
This will be packed separately and will be placed into an upcoming magazine issue (along with the parts with that magazine).
We had been holding off from announcing this until we knew which specific issue would contain the cone. As of this moment we are still waiting on this information from our Model supplier. As soon as we know we will post a note to the Forum.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Kind regards

DeAgostini"

What's wrong with the original nose cone????

I have to say this is an impressive move by them.

THIS is why, if I would have subscribed, I wouldn't already start upgrading the parts. It's evident that parts will come later, perhaps more upgrades .. what's the point in spending all that extra cash if you don't even know yet what you will get?

It's great to know they are actually listening to the builders. I doubt they are going to do anything about the interior pieces thou even thou it would be great if they did make it more accurate. Well at least that's one 3D part I can scratch off my to-buy list

I do believe the prices are based on UK pounds not US dollars.

As I understand it, the guy down under subscribed to the U.S. edition. He has the same deal I do in the U.S.--except for shipping to Oz. And as I understand it, my price will be the same, in U.S. dollars, until the end--regardless of what happens to the exchange rate between the dollar and pound. The Oz dollar-U.S. dollar will affect him, but not the pound.

Exactly.

I can weld the pieces, but theymight have been cast aluminium and not possible to Tig weld them at all.
I would say just put a little lock tight on the screws and go on.
this piece is going to be great i just bought issues 1-17 on evilbay, and a friend in the uk gets me the upcomming issues.
Cant wait to get it started.

Yes it is and this should show just how popular this series is.

As far as the cockpit cone goes from what I have seen it's only the upper canopy frame that has issues. The framing itself is meant to taper inwards towards the front however they are parallel on the DeAgo part as well as the supporting cross beam are not meant to be the same height as the frame.

Deagostini have just announced they are reissuing the cockpit cone as a two way part casting I a future issue after feedback from subscribers - good news

Looking at the cone in my hand and this pic of the real model the windows on the Deago match pretty darn good. The middle and side windows have a more noticeable narrowing but the middle side windows do also go in just like the real one. The framing matches except for the mentioned side supports are flush with the top of the frame and not the bottom. There is one vertical line missing on the side below the side support. A tiny horizontal seam running past the rear of the bottom of the lower rear window that is lower on the Deago but,......

I have to say it is really amazing they are willing to go back and make these minuscule changes. I never would have noticed and still am amazed by the accuracy of this first cone so it's really, really, impressive that they are willing to do this.

Okay the two long side windows are a little off. They are more even, although not completely, on the real model and they are noticeably different widths and angles on the Deago but still,...oh my!! Good for Deago.

I love accuracy and I never would have noticed if they had not announced a new one.

I'm wondering about the idea of building this thing up with little to no alterations--say, the only thing you do is use a little super glue here and there--and then entering it in a modeling competition. I'm not even sure to what degree this is a model, as opposed to some other kind of hobby. But if you think of it as a model, and someone could get any other model and build it with only glue--no paint, etc.--and enter it (even though that seems silly), then why couldn't someone get this and build it just following directions and enter it at a contest.

I have never been to a modeling competition...would it be a problem to enter one built to instructions? What do they judge on?

I'm curious to know what the USD to AUD conversion will end up, as currently I'm paying just a little under $20 an issue from the UK.

I'm also up to date with the current UK dispatch (Issue 17), and have been informed Issues 18-21 are on their way to the address I'm using in the UK.
