Hey everyone! Gotta say, seeing all these pics and the progresses being made are really inspiring and motivating. I had help drafting up a design (will be Halloween themed) and ordered some globes yesterday. I'm looking forward to making my mau5head for Halloween weekend/his concert here in SD. I'm planning on adding a few accessories to my head to make it my own. I can't wait!

Preemptive 'thank you' to everyone who has contributed so many helpful tips and tricks!

I can't wait for the SD concert. I've taken the weekend off and my g/f and I are going. I am making a mau5head for her and another one for myself. I'll post pictures as soon as I get some more done on them. Right now it is a lot of trial and error.

As an old school raver and DJ, I have to say these are some pretty good likenesses. I knew a guy once that used old vinyl records for the ears. It came out better than one would think it would.

venturimyth: I only have one class on Friday and Halloween off...so technically I have the weekend off too, right? Are you guys going to Voyeur afterwards (I'm assuming you're of age. They've been promoting posters with deadmau5 on it for an 'after concert')?

Can't wait to see your pics! My globes shipped Tuesday so I'm going an buying everything else this weekend. I'll be sure to send some along once I get the ball rolling.

I have no idea. I'm not from SD. I'm driving down from Vegas for the weekend. The problem with them promoting an after concert party is that they might just be using the concert to promote their club. I just looked on their website and it says nothing about deadmau5 or Avicii other then a banner for their concert at Petco.

That thought crossed my mind but then I remembered that he has played at Voyeur before. We'll see!

Road tripping from Vegas? Nice. I heard he'll be there that Sunday at XS.

Ok, so here is what I have done so far on my girlfriend's head. It doesn't look exactly how I wanted it to, but I didn't know how to make an oval out of a circle for more likeness. The whiskers aren't on yet because I need to buy some paint, but I'm sure you will get the gist of it.

Another problem was that the material I used didn't stretch at all. I hate that you can see the seams in it, but that's how it goes. I wonder if I can find a stretchy material that has long fur on it....

I kid you not, I drafted up a Hello Mau5y head as my original idea for Halloween. I love it! Its adorable!

Anyone see that one of Joels heads was stolen at his last show?

Maybe now we'll get some accurate measurements, or even templates? If the right person took it of course...

You mean at the Hollywood show? If so that was actually a fan-head. Some other guy stole that and claimed it was his own to get signed (no one was allowed to wear heads inside certain venues, like at the Paladium).

No, he posted on his Facebook page that someone stole his maul head off stage. The post is gone now, but it mentions that his security was looking at the videos to try and identify him.

I think it was just this one too. It was a much, much smaller venue than other places I've been. But he said if you brought one you could check it in and he'd meet/greet/sign it after.

I looked up his twitter and read what you were talking about, spidermanc. How lame. Now I wonder how much those heads are insured for!

That is good to know. I would be really unhappy if I spent hours on a mau5 head and then be told I can't wear it to a venue.

I wonder how the whole check in process works for getting it signed/meeting him. That would be pretty cool.

the head that was stollen was his "fake" LED head. It was stollen off the stage at roseland ballroom after a show while it was charging. On wednesday show there was only 3 heads, but lastnights show there was a good 10. and some really high quality ones.

I went to the show here in Las Vegas at The Cosmopolitan and there were 6 mau5heads here. We couldn't wear them around the casino but they had no problem with us wearing them at the concert. They better have no problem with us wearing them at Petco.

Hmm I'm currently in the process of making a mau5 head for halloween and I'm done with most of the planning yet I'm kind of puzzled on how Joel's 5-ball Mau5head has a swivel visor.

Anyone have tips on how to construct such a visor?

I was thinking of using a clear acrylic cut from another globe visor and tint it out like a motorcycle reflective black tint and stretch black athletic mesh across it like LumberZach's post a few pages back.

I know the specs are not exactly right and I know I could have done a better job with the mirrors in the rear of the head, but I was kind of rushed because I wanted to get it done for his show. I finished it the day before the show. I am currently thinking of new ideas for a new one, but haven't decided what I want to do next.

I bought them online. They are 1" craft mirrors. I bought them from craftsuppliesforless.com. They were kind of expensive, but worked exactly how I wanted them to.
