That's great, thanks. I just got the list all up to date

I will be offering commissions for weathering later on, but until I've got the parts in hand and completely finished one myself, I won't be able to give a timescale or price on that. I'm thinking the full commissions will likely be limited in number compared to the size of the run unfortunately. I've been seeing some fantastic Obi commissions doing the rounds lately though, so there are some really great options out there! Really looking forward to getting in to all the little details and imperfections!

When the time comes, for those interested in a full weathering commission, I'll be happy to hold on to people's orders until they see the final results. Then they can decide if they'd like to put their name down or not. Just an option to save on shipping back and forth, if people don't mind waiting.

I'll be including the clamp foil with the un-weathered hilt, for those wanting to delve in to the weathering themselves too.

Things are moving along now and very nearly ready to reveal the final models... So many pieces to this one, that are themselves made up of multiple pieces! I'm calling the handwheel done though:

Most of the other parts are finished too, but I'll keep those under wraps for now, until I get the whole thing put together... (soon!)

The Bapty discussion is a good one, good call on finding marks on the Death Star version I never noticed that!

The Tunisia version has an interesting attachment between the grenade neck and emitter. I don’t know what it is, but it looks different than the chronicles version. We learned the crap on the chronicles neck was gunk and not a dented emitter. Whether it was glue or weld I don’t know either.. I did hear a rumor they brazed them together

Hey Tom. I actually believe it's a combination of the two. There is definitely denting to the emitter, but it also has a substance of some sort at the join. It's hard to say for sure what that substance is, but I wouldn't have thought they would use glue. Personally I lean towards brazing or soldering.

Got the clamp finished late last night, and got a few renders made today:

Hope you like it. This is the base clamp model, so requires a few additional holes for the pins/screw.

Only a couple of loose ends to finish up now...

I feel like I should just say, it's not my intension to out-do anyone or compete in any way with other offerings. I have the utmost respect and admiration for Roman, and his MK1 is a thing of absolute beauty. This is a personal challenge for me, and my only aim is to make this thing as accurate as I possibly can and to the best of my own abilities.

The models are coming along nicely still (nearly finished!)... The models that I'm working on at the moment are the high poly preview models. These aren't strictly necessary, as they are not used in the manufacturing process. They will be useful for explaining some of the finer details and discussing with the machinist how certain aspects of the models interact with one-another. I think it's important to see the actual threading on the models and how that impacts the look of each piece:

It's important that none of the subtle details that are present in these high poly renders are missed by the machinist, so they're going to be a great visual aid when the time comes to discuss manufacturing.

**Just in-case you're wondering, the lettering on the wind-vane will be optional. It wont be quite as heavy as it is here either. It is virtually non existent on the actual prop, so my plan is to have it stamped as shallow as humanly possible**

Anyway, hope you like how these are looking. Just a couple more pieces to get finished up in HP so that I can put them all together in one complete preview.

One more thing...

The number of parts that are required for this run has really got me thinking about whether it would be beneficial to abandon the Tunisia grenade?? I suspect that 99% of people are going to go for the Chronicles, in which case, perhaps it would speed things along if I focussed 100% on that for this run. I could then maybe take a look at the Tunisia grenade at a later date? It was just a thought, and I'm interested to hear what people think?

Thanks for your patience everyone. Things have certainly started to pic up pace now and I'm really excided to get past the modelling stage and to start thinking about manufacturing!

I believe the original rings would have been manually stamped by hand. I'm hoping to either pick up some stamps that are as close to those used as possible.

That's what I'm thinking. I like "obscure", and would love to have both versions sat side by side at some point. But I think it might be best to focus on one thing at once.

This is something I've been chatting about this week actually. I do plan on including a tell for the more hard to find/expensive parts. It's been pointed out that no matter how hard we try to get 100% accuracy, there is always something, however small, that will set it apart from a genuine vintage part. That said, the aim is perfection, so I will be including some tells that are not visible on the assembled prop.

That was exactly my thinking on the lettering, to find a set of stamps that match the size/font as closely as possible. Not sure if I'll find a vintage set, but that would be fantastic!

Like Wes says, there's only really the Tunisia shot that shows that end of that prop. It's missing entirely there, and I suspect that's the case for the Chronicles too. If they went to the trouble of concealing the Graflex lettering, it wouldn't make sense to include the cap with a large H/C if it could simply be left off. That's my thinking on it anyway. I do plan on having the cap made though, as most people seem to prefer to have it included.

That's one less thing to worry about making.
