Cyberpunk city diorama

Hi, hello, Searun-san. Thank you for your kind comment.

I believe maybe there is no wise man. Maybe there are only people who have made many mistakes and somehow, have become able to acquire the desired result.

Oh, here is a good tip! 'Better not post up something you failed!' :p(y)

Thank you again for your support.:notworthy::notworthy:

Such a wise statement. ;)

I‘ll see myself out.

Thank you, gentlemen.

So, let's go ahead without being afraid of failure.

Looks like I may have to make some pedestrians and the people in the shops and apartment rooms.
So, I started to make some sketches not to be bewildered at the moment of the actual build. - as always.
The last time I made some figures were just soldiers.
A simple single sketch of the soldier's outfit.
This time, a bunch of people belonging to the street of cyberpunk city. At least it may need 20 to 30 designs of their outfits. Policeman/woman, office worker, street punks, and gangs. Some classy people, a beautiful lady in hot clothes... etc., etc. Except for the people hanging around with shorts and t-shirts, jeans, and sweatshirts.

So, I've come up with an idea that I make 2D mannequins.
So that I only design and draw their outfits.
Followings are a bit boring to see but for myself, that is fun!

Rough sketch with a pencil.

Tracing the outline to a transparent sheet with an oil-based marker pen.
I used the clear sheet of an overhead projector.

OK, 2D mannequins are ready.

Put another transparent sheet on the 2D mannequins and draw their outfit on it.

......and so on.

Thanks for looking,

Love the 2D idea.

I wish I had a copy of it, but a friend did a cyberpunk street scene drawing years ago. He drew himself in it, wearing a heavy jacket because it was cold, but he had cybernetic legs, so was wearing shorts and flip-flop sandals.

So cool.
Keep drawing, Katsu-san(y)
Oh, yeah!! Thanks, George-san!

Haha, that's a very surrealistic approach! Thanks!
Love the characters/costumes!

Thank you!

Originally, those areas are specialties of your side.
As a Japanese, I have no choice but to do my best!(y)

I talked about street fashion with my wife last night. When we were young and dating, the ladies and guys on the street were wearing more colorful and fitting clothes than nowadays. Then they were getting darker colors and less fitting clothes. For a guy like me, it's a bit sad things. My wife said that she rarely sees women dressing in elegant clothes these days. She is also feeling sorry about that. We thought about why.
One. We have been spending long periods of recession. That made us not shop for our clothes in a department store. Instead, we go shopping at the cheap and fast fashion represented by Uniqlo. Those clothes are convenient because most of those clothes fit any taste of the general fashion senses and hide the shape of bodies. Instead, we lost the variety of colors and designs.
Two, I'm afraid, most women might not interested in attracting the guy's eyes anymore. Most Japanese boys are dating with low funding to take their dates to have dinner or bar. Because boys need extra money to cover the expense of their smartphones. And the smartphone almost fully fills their possible desires. Games, shopping, gossip, chitchat, quick communication with others, porno graphs, and movies. What else do they need? Disco? Naa, Forget it. Their girlfriends often turn out to be a problem and boring and bothering things. From the view of the woman's side, they ask themself 'why do we have to spend more funds on expensive and classy clothes and accessories?' Your boyfriends always try to take you to a family restaurant or McDonald's. they even want you to make a dutch treat every time - this is what my daughters often complain about. So, women quit investing in their fashion and hold the fund for the expense of smartphones. Because smartphones always fulfilled most of their desires. Yes, a smartphone is a God who came down and saved them. It is now a common scene that a young woman and a guy to sit face to face on the chair of the restaurant, not staring at each other but staring and petting their smartphone all the time. It's a divine and mysterious sight. True worship.
This is the first era of human history that was able to obtain perfect entertainment to fit their desire... Whether it brought us happiness, we don't know.
That is our conclusion of last night.

Street fashion of today.

My friends, let me know what is the situation about this on your side?

Katsu

Over here in the states it is much the same, smartphones, social media, likes, shares, trying desperately to go viral. Even if young people do go out on dates, they are usually both looking, commenting, and engaging in everything except what is going on in front of them. It is sad to me.
What abates that sadness is knowing that there are people like you Katsu San, that still make beautiful things, and that through this little forum of ours I can tell you so.
I hope that those young people I see staring at their phones are looking at your creations on this thread, if not they should tilt their heads up a little and look at each other instead.

Thank you for your sincere reply, scarf man-san!
I read your text and thought for a little long time.
Here's a joke.
Someone asked the old man why he keep hammering his head. The old man said, 'I love the feeling when I quit it' o_O
It's a silly joke but there is one truth.
Suffering and pain are important factors for feeling happy. If everything is easy to get, will you get the joy of winning? If no one is irreplaceable, do they know the sadness of losing? Do they know the happiness of being with that person all the time?

A few years ago, I read the Q&A corner of a magazine.
Q: How can I find my hobby.
I thought 'Wow!':oops::eek:

Sorry, not organized but that's what I thought.

Thank you again, scarf-man-san,

katsu

Loving your clothing designs!

My daughter has recently started "dating"

I drove her and her "boyfriend" to the movies. They both sat in the backseat the whole ride staring at their phones not saying a word to each other and each of them also had their air pods in their ears.

When I picked them up, they were both waiting, again staring at their phones with the headphones on

After dropping him off I had to ask if they even said one word to each other the whole night

And did they "say" any words out loud, or was it all in texting?

Thank you, Analyzer-san and Michael-san.

Analyzer-san,
Your angel started to date. She is now stepping into adult life. That is good. I don't know if they are communicating at a place you have never known. We never know. But your daughter is... Ah... so special. She is so beautiful. A dream of teenage boys.
When I was dating with my wife before we married, I thought she was a dream for me. I could never put my eyes off her even when we were seeing a movie. I was so happy only staring at her. I know maybe it was my illusion, but I really felt that.

What happened to our known world.

Anya Taylor Joy is one of my favorite actors. She picks really great roles like 'The Witch' from 2015. Amazing film and worth your time.

Beautiful work, so far, Katsu-san!

If anyone loved and enjoyed the following movies, please forgive me.

Record-breaking hot days here, I can't get to the workbench. My wife got a heat shock. Surviving in an air-conditioned room, Yesterday, I found that 'Dune' is on Netflix. Silent afternoon, I started to see. This was a cursed movie. The first one of that stupid and tripping- really tripped far- Hodorofsky's was, not worth making a real movie. David Lynch was ah... nothing more than boring. I thought he is a more talented man. OK, the third one. Director, ah, did a Blade Runner 2049. I got a bad feeling about this. Because I saw the movie and slept in the middle of it. Twice. I love his 'Sicario' but his Blade Runner was not what I expected. I don't know why but the movie was so boring. And was too many 'Snob artistic scene and dialogues' that I really hate. I understood why this movie didn't hit in Japan.

The last time I read the book 'Dune' was more than 45 years ago. It looked new for the 18 years old me.
I understood the drug culture, hippy, and racism of that era in mid-'60s America. That was far long ago.

I saw the latest 'Dune'. I slept again at somewhere the boy got his hand in a box or something.

I am thinking do I try again tomorrow?

I also fell asleep the first time I watched Blade Runner 2049

However, I did give it a second chance after a few months and wound up really liking it.

Still not a movie for everyone and people either find it to boring or love it it seems. Not much in between

Also David Lynch is hit or miss. He does some really weird stuff, some of it works, some it is just too hokey

Wild at Heart was a pretty good one of his or even Blue Velvet

I liked the overall look and feel of BR 2049....but, there was a LOT of stuff that could be cut to make it flow better and give it a tighter story.
Even Ridley Scott felt it was too long, and he was like, I wrote the thing.
