Build your sonic prototype, Post pictures of it in this thread, Do not answer any questions by ether the one's that supports you or the one's that seems to hate you.

When you finished, and If CLEAR proof surfaces that shows that you in fact have copied that other person's sonic, Then most members here will rip you a new one...and the mod will ban you from this site....and most members are members on other prop forums so that way your prop making reputation is down the toilet forever.

and LeAngeSolitaire could dance his little "I was right all along" dance
2245animatedgifbradpitt.gif

So build your sonic. Don't answer anyone, Good or Bad. Post progress pictures
If someone continues to agitate you here, then they might soon have a chat with the Mods.........And that is where they also could show their "proof" and stop shoving their crap into this thread.

This is just getting silly. And for the record, I won't be buying ANYBODY'S Sonic Screwdrivers. I'm a builder not a buyer. So the only horse I have in this race is the continued well being of our collective hobby.

I went over and looked at this supposedly damning evidence. I also took the time to look at the original drawings posted by the OP. Yes, I have copies of them. ;)

Let's have a look, shall we?

....

So, until we see the final piece,
Point #8= NON-ISSUE

That makes 8 for 8 for those who are counting. Probably why the Mods haven't stepped in yet, yeah?
=============================

...

So knock off the crap and watch the man's build thread...or don't, but until something is ACTUALLY recast you're doing nothing but trolling.

Well put, OM, you´ve saved me a lot of additional work ;)

Guys, the above said is as good as an official statement made by any of the staff members.

To those who reported it, we will definitely not go over to CT´s blog and look for evidence. If the evidence is not presented here on the RPF, it´s not of interest to us. But we have not reached the point of being able to prove anything atm, so please don´t bother.

Recasting and reengineering is taken very seriously, but as OM already stated it, let the man build his Sonic. If the end product does show signs of immediate recasting and reengineering, action will definitely be taken.

Rassilon1 will have to edit out all sales related remarks such as costs of engineering, potential price point etc., otherwise the thread would have to be moved to the Junkyard, and I think nobody really wants to move the thread out of the public view ;)

Further, I truly resent your accusation that I "contribute little," and imply that I am here just to discredit anyone that dares compete with CT.

jedibugs, I did not mean to imply you contribute nothing to the board (just these three threads) and apologize if you took it that way. But these threads are always disrupted by the same names each time they start (there will always be an issue even when there is not one). I am not name calling,

I know you and CT don't get along... but I always defended you because I've always thought of you as helpful and nice.

This is not a failure to get along issue despite that it is trying to be painted that way. This is posting a bunch of photos that do not even close to match this persons work and aggressively trying to smear him.

Let's play devil's advocate, choose-your-own-adventure style:
You (Phez), have developed a Sonic kit from your own hard work and research of publicly available pics of the prop. Suddenly, someone claims that you have stolen dims and build methodologies from THEIR version of the same prop!

Do you:
a) Show your work

Or

b) Say "pshaw!" and begin belittling anyone who has concerns about whether the allegations may be true, change your blueprints and edit any post prior to the allegation so that the original plans are not available to critique

I will participate in this adventure :lol.

I would

a)

  • Show my initial rough drawings (He did).
  • Show my 3D models I created as the CNC patterns (He did).
  • Show my final prototype parts that I have machined (He did).
Then

b)

  • After posting all this and nothing but an early drawing remotely matches what I am being accused of recasting I would get pissed off.

I think this is a very fair estimate of how anyone would react isn't it???

I criticize the actions of people, not the people themselves.

I think that is what I am doing. What has been contributed to this thread that we all can learn from and take away with us? What can I (or anyone else) apply to my Sonic build as a result of the posts in this thread?

ManfromNaboo,

Thank you sir, I think this thread really needed a truly independent Admin look at this (outside of the Sonic fans) and hopefully this will get us back on track. :)

It wasn't an early drawing though was it Phez? It was a final draft that was rapidly retconned into an early draft after he was called out by CT. This summation of it being an early draft is offensively inaccurate.

I think we've all gotten a little carried away in the argument and forgotten the most important thing: It really doesn't matter. Honestly, if Rassilon's dims came from the CT (and I think they did), once he was called out, he began changing the dims. We've all made that point... So, if the final product is not based on the CT dims (and I don't think they will be), then isn't the issue at an end? We sought to force a confession or to have him respond to the initial allegations in a way that would satisfy us, but isn't a redesigned product a better result? Rassilon can now release his kit, featuring his own work, and people who otherwise may not have been able to afford a Sonic may be able to get one. This is a good thing all around.
I say that those of us who challenged Rassilon should feel good about forcing a re-work to non-derivative dimensions and drop the whole subject. The others can disagree, as is their right, and continue to feel that CT was never infringed upon. That's okay. Let's just not argue the int any more. We can all agree to disagree on that point, with the knowledge that the final released product will consist of Rassilon's own hard work.

So, guys, let's see how Rassilon's undertaking turns out. And we'll leave the issues of post editing and other sketchy behavior for another time, if it should be repeated.

I think this is best, as it allows all parties to cry "Mission Accomplished!"

I think we are done here and the stage belongs to Rassilon1. Regardless of what each each of us takes away from this rewarding exchange :lol:lol:lol the mod's have made a call and we now need to drop it and let the man build his project. I personally want to see the next update.

Same here. Although this got really, really ugly it's also called to light a lot of people's perceptions on the issue and I think both sides of the fence have a bit better understanding of how the other feels.

I clearly have a horse in this race (since I've posted interest from the beginning), but after reading 11 pages of bickering I do wish I had the expertise to come out and either refute or prove all of the engineering points of contention to try and get this discussion to be a bit more constructive and a little less about Wikihow thread callouts or four-letter diatribes.

Luckily someone with a bit more experience in the replication of this prop was able to do just that.

Organic Mechanic, next time you're in LA a pint is on me for providing some sort quasi-objectivity.

I'm looking forward to seeing Rassilon1's kit finished. For the record, I'm also looking forward to seeing CT's version of the Eccleston Sonic (a model which I've been looking for quite a while).

But for my immediate CNC flashlight needs (i.e. an interactive RF remote to let kids play with as part of a fun display with the screen used McGann console or a fiberglass police box), the Rassilon1 kit is going to be my first purchase.

Onward!

Organic Mechanic!!!:angry You re-cast my argument!!!!!:$

1) The shallow lens cap recess - The original was much deeper.

Apparently CT's isn't? Really? Who knows this? Not I, or anyone else who doesn't own a CT sonic.

That is hardly the point though. The OP has already stated an exact purpose for his bore depth. It is intended to accommodate a found item. This was stated prior to the witch hunt.

Point #1= NON-ISSUE

2) The bisected strut - This is a feature that CT pointed out

Well that's cool. My hat is off to him for pointing out this key feature of the prop. That however doesn't give him right to lay claim to the feature as it EXISTS ON THE ACTUAL PIECE. Not to mention that the struts on my CO are pretty well bisected too.

Point #2= NON-ISSUE

3) The screw in ball coupler - Again, this is not an idea I am claiming sole ownership over, moreover I am claiming ownership over how it is executed. The cylindrical nature of the coupler finishing in a circular seam on the lower inside of the emitter head recess is something I first pointed out here on this blog and backed up with photographic proof that was NOT available online.

OK, I'm not even bothering to trim this one down. The point is negated by the man's own description. Just because you found the feature, you don't get to claim exclusive rights to reproduce it.

Again though, my hat is off to CT for his exemplary detective work.

Point #3= NON-ISSUE

4) The cylindrical LED holder - Again this was something that is unique to my build and gained through my access to the prop. This was never seen on any publicly available photo and was argued about until I provided an enhanced pic that showed the seam in the upper part of the head recess.

Two points. One, only a moron hard wires a light bulb when there is a more efficient method. The LED holder IS the more efficient method. And two, I refer you to point #3

Point #4= NON-ISSUE

You can clearly see that I already made all of these arguments and presented them in this thead:angry

Now you come by and copy my work and present it as your own taking all of the glory for yourself:cry
That's RE-CASTING!!!!!!!

Now, I know what you'll say. That you looked at the allegations and evidence and came to the same conclusions independent of my work. But that seems to me to be completely impossible.

If you came to one of the same conclusions as me or even two, I might be able to accept the notion, preposterous as it may seem, that you came to see the same flaws in CT's arguments by independently working on you project on your own.

BUT COME ON... All four... That's IMPOSSIBLE!!!!
There's no way you could have realized this without having looked at my work and so this is a clear case of re-casting!!!

I demand either a formal apology, written in dry erase marker, on your most valuable prop to be sent to me by high noon tomorrow. Or... you must re-design your arguments from scratch, with no similarity to any talking points I may have made in the last five years.

Mods, where are you on this one?!?!?! :confused

To the members

You just don’t know who anyone is, until you post. What you think is helping one member inflames other members. In the case of mechanical threads, no one owns a mechanical type thread nor how it is used. I’m a mechanical designer so I design. That’s what I do. That’s what the company I work for supplies: mechanical designs for Aerospace and engineering.

Were did I get my dimensions from? I looked at original references of the original prop and of the CO prototypes, specifically those found on this site http://purpleblancmange.wordpress.co...r-updated/*and from a fellow forum member who had a better image, as per my requests And lastly, I just Google searched for Doctor who 10th sonic screwdriver.

I just printed this pictures off and used a ruler to get the overall dimensions. The rest was simple, as for curtain looks and features I used photo’s from the net. I Google searched for Doctor who 10th sonic screwdriver, and avoided any that were linked to theprf site. As to how it all fit’s together and works, I’m a mechanical designer that’s what I do, I used inventor software to make 3D models.

To the members that have supported me by their posts and positive comments, you are a fine example of a forum member. To member that have supported me though Pm’ s, and there are plenty who did not want to post on the thread due to the fear of be victimized, I do thank you for your encouragement throughout this thread and ask that it continue. And thanks for sharing your stories with me.

Any lists that I may have referred to or posted will be removed. I also will be removing any and all drawing images and I will be complying with all mods' requests.

I will finish this build, for the good members of this forum, and once it is completed, I will then make a thread in the junkyard, for the members alone, who will be the judge, and not a ill-informed few, as they have requested though Pm’s and thread posts.
