Cheap and Accurate Michael Myers Halloween (II) Mask!

That may be true but the masks should be consistant or else there will be quite a few upset people.

As I posted earlier yours is painted way different than mine and that is where they are going to get in trouble :unsure

just went back and re-read what you said about your paint. mine is the same way. below the ears and below the chin there is very little paint.

this is how it is in the movie though. in H1 the mask was just spray painted white and not very good at that. there was a little flesh showing in H1. by the the time H2 came around even more paint had rubbed off and a lot of flesh was showing. also, the mask was stored poorly and it was discolored and very dirty.

the shape comes from the shape of the actor's head. nick castle has a long narrow head while dick warlock had a wider head. this is why the masks look different.

i'm sure most of you know this though lol.

Yes but yours has more white on it than mine. :lol

That is where I think they may run into problems.

But, the fact remains. One shouldn't have to.

If a product can't be offered 'properly finished' at a given price point; change the price. The fact that it's 60.00 isn't a free pass to deliver a poorly painted piece.

So the question remains.... Will a simple repaint fix all issues?

Press the hair down a bit and it shouldn't look all too bad, methinks.

Lots of photos on the Trick or Treat facebook page - depending on the lighting, how it's displayed, how the hair is fixed and other factors some shots look great, like this one:

I'm still looking forward to receiving mine. Any way you look at it, it's a vast improvement over the old Rubies Myers masks.

Eh.... I went and ordered one. It is still way better than the one I have and will a little hair play and modifications it should be perfect. I am in no boat to drop $300+ on a mask so for this price point I will not complain :)

The new mask's QC may not be perfect based on what I have read, but at least it's fixable because the sculpt is great. Someone over on MM.net posted a few comparison shots of the previous licensed masks (all from Don Post I think) which say it all really:

And now we have:

Without paying $250 or sometimes a lot more.

Apologies to the OP on MM.net for more or less lifting his post, but I think it really drives the point home what a leap forward this new mask is at this price point.

People have been buying and trying to modify the old DP masks for years, but you can't make a silk purse...now we have an inexpensive but good quality licensed product which can be used as it is, or slightly modified into something even better by more exacting collectors, if needs be.

I think it's ok to like this mask, it's a good thing for the Myers community, us prop collectors and casual Halloween costumers alike.

PS - notice what a huge difference the correctly styled hair makes in the last images.

Oh yeah this is a great piece for the price how can you go wrong? :lol

Looks like everybody is loving it as I have been reading some posts on the Myers forum.

Also looks like they are consistent with the paintjob on the others as well as mine.

Going to go terrorize the neighbors later on tonight, screw waiting for Halloween :D

I have read nothing but positive comments on MichaelMyers.net and that is one tough crowd to impress with a Myers mask. So this is a good thing :)

Well, got home today and was quite giddy to see what was on my doorstep.

Couldn't help myself once I popped open the box to snap a photo of the thing. Futz with the hair a bit and pad it out a bit, then cut the lights and bam, baby!

Not too shabby. Three things I don't like about it though:
1) Flesh color on the neck is really dark but nothing a touch of white spray paint can't fix (would make a very convincing H1)
2) Shadow/rough areas that are painted dark look funny. Really clean, sharp lines make it really distinct on the face
3) Really sloppy paint on the lips (on mine, anyways)

Other than that, this is damn good for the price.

Nice photo!

Went out last night with mine on the neighbor I thought I was going to scare chitless was not fazed the other two I thought would not be fazed I scared the beejesus outta!

Go figure! :lol

Lol Apollo.

Nice pic, Poopa.

Being on the other side of the pond, mine is bound to arrive a bit later, but I will post a mini review when it gets here.

although this mask is made to look like the one worn in H2...I know it was the same mask worn in 1 and 2..but the actors head changes the look of the mask...and this one is made to look like it appears in H2..was wondering has anyone tried to give it a more H1 look...debating on buying one, esp at that price..but was curios as to how it could be changed and how close you could get to a H1?

It'd be very easy to make this into an H1. I padded the mask out to resemble H1 more than H2 and fixed the hair more akin to the first movie as well. The neck just needs a spot of paint, soften the the 'dark spot' on the nose a bit, touch up the mouth a bit, and it'll look like a pretty convincing H1

I agree, I mean it's not like anyone ever had to repaint a Vader helmet or anything...:behave
