Cheap and Accurate Michael Myers Halloween (II) Mask!

...also, in case you didn't know, Trick or treat studios announced a "clean" version which was basically a Halloween 1 version but pulled it suggesting they would have an exciting announcement next year. This probably means that they will have the Halloween 1 license next year. We could be seeing the cheapest, most accurate licensed Kirk mask next year...

Damn. Shoulda seen that coming seeing how popular their H2 masks still are. If that's so, these masks are slowly becoming a new collection of mine, I already have one more than I expected to have anyway!:lol

Thanks! Can I just use latex paint from the hardware store, or is there a preferred hobby brand?

I honestly don't know; I would test a swatch first if you go that route. Alternatively, you can mix regular liquid latex with acrylic paint, too, if you want. Keep it mixed though cause that stuff separates if it's left out too long. There is also paint made just for painting latex through SFX sites and things like it.

I just recently bought the Halloween 6 mask and it is AMAZING. Even the hair is freaking awesome! I owned the Six from Silver Shampain Novelties and I would have taken this 49.99 version over that one even knowing the price. They did a fantastic job on it! Still haven't come across the H20 version yet though.

I'm guessing I could sponge on acrylic and then do a clear latex coat over it? At the VERY least I want the transition to the flesh tone neck to be less abrupt, take the hard edges off the nose scuff, and grub it up a little more texturally (is that the right word?) like it looks in the Dr. Pepper pics above.

Also, how does one foam/pad a mask?

Let us know how that works out. I currently can't afford to invest in an airbrush and compressor at the moment, so any good way to apply some when I need to redo my mask's paint; I'm all for!

That's great news, can't wait!!

Looks great. Is the photographer supposed to be lying on the floor looking up at Michael? ;)

My TOTS mask just arrived today, and I have to say, I'm REALLY pleased. I thought it was going to need much more extensive paint work to make it presentable, but I'm just going to give it a few tweaks and call it good (if it wasn't to wear, I'd go all out, but for a drunken Halloween party costume, it doesn't need to be perfect). The hair is a matted, shedding mess, but with a trim and a style, should be ok, and the hairline is very well attached. I had Amazon points, so it only cost me fifteen bucks, but I'd have been very pleased even at full price. :D

I bought the TOTS Halloween 2 coveralls as well. They're too thin, but the weight of all the paint and crap I'm using to weather them is giving them a bit more heft and durability. All I needed to do before I started weathering was hem them. I think the green is way too bright, but weathering is knocking it down a tad.

EDIT: added a very grainy laptop pic. Detail is washed out, but as I said, this is a great mask!
