hey guys I am finally at the stage where I can work on the engines I am looking at the pic of the x from the art of SW and other stuff from RPF to determine how long the upper phantom engine needs to be it appears to be 1/3 the length of the aft end but on closer examination there is that angled end where the engine meets the wing root and the small cone is attached so now after that long winded explanation
here is my quandry would it be assuming too much to say that the upper half of the engine is sliced into several sections and reglued to get the front part with the angle on the the front so esentialy I need to take a slice out of the middle of the upper engine section
I know this sounds perplexing but it seems the only way to get the engine to the right length and appearance

there are pics of the stug sprues over at studioscale.com
the parts for the back of the wings wehre the sherman boagie is et in appears to be made of metal making it difficult to trim to size so this part would have to have been cast IMO
also
If there is an interest for these parts I have this list to offer
shinden-for the butt plate 2 peices
hummel-for the butt plate 4 peices
sealab -for the wings 8 peices
if there is any interest I will work out a price

The Stug photos are from me. As expressed earlier in the thread, the metal parts are innaccurate and were not used on the x-wing. An earlier non-motorized version used plastic pieces that are accurate. Good luck finding them. Unless someone has the proper parts cast and for sale, I've decided to scratch build them.
your right I am sorry and ofcourse that kit is incredible rare I have only seen one on ebay in a year and it was semi built and it went for over 150.00 I think not sure
I saw the cad plans some one did and overlaid in a pic of the xwing very nice work indeed
If the grooves are there (and I'm inclined to believe that they might just be JPEG artifacts) then they're not on all of the X-wings - that whole subassembly is the same cast piece that appears on the outer wing surface.
The "blue detail" is a combination of the edge of that subassembly, the edge of the U-channel, and a stuck on panel or two - you can see several more of these on the surface of the wing in the picture.
boatbuilder1, I was just looking at your fuselage in those pics above. Is that a Hasbro FX X-Wing that you've extended with styrene? I'd love to hear more about that.

Something to keep in mind about that picture. You are looking at the Red 3 model. Like Red 2 and Even Red 5 there are differences some subtle some not so subtle. The differences can be as simple as different panels placed here and there. I had to do that with my CC X-Wing. Some of the panels he had on his kit were not there on the Red 2 ship and there were some on the Red 2 ship that he didn't have on his kit.
So unless you are wanting to make Red 3 I wouldn't read too much into that picture. You'll just end up mixing up a couple of diffrent ships.
