Building the Sandcrawler

Unreal....again, how anyone can refute the fact that this is an art form and we are witnessing a top artist 'at work' is beyond me. It's like sitting in a lazy boy and being able to watch Picasso or da Vinci step by step as they create a masterpiece. Incredible work.....

Hi bobas,

Thank you very much for your reply but it is overpraise for me:)
If you try to start the building, it is easier than your thinking and I will also support fully your project.:thumbsup

thanks Eric.

Your too modest Eric, and that is why your so well liked around here, you have oodles of talent, and your such a damn nice guy too...love the new pics buddy, she's soooo damn sexy :lol

Please click the image to see the orginal shot.

thanks Eric.

Dave...it had to be said buddy :lol He's a super trooper our Eric!

Eric, that is so bloomin fantastic, i feel like im blowing smoke up ya bum every time i say this....but it really is. The passion you have thrown at this......is awe inspiring.....i love it.

I dont envy your task of handcutting the track links, but my god, i just know its going to be another jaw dropping workload to show off here.

As always, cant wait to see more!

Hi Friend~!

First of all, my friend Lee~! I always thanks for your interest and kind words:)

Last week, I bought 2 tracks of 4 sherman from another friend and the SC will be updated ASAP I got the track parts.

thanks Eric.

Eric this is truly a sensational build. Just lovein your progress on this beast. thanks for sharing this with us mate.

Thanks Jason~!
I also wait the finish of your falcon...:)

Here are small update...:)

Finally, I decided to make the static model because of a lot of concerns.
From now, I have to add 1.5 inch details on the sherman track to make unique tread like ILM.
And It is just depend on my hand work....:cry

thanks Eric.

Eric,

I think you should re-consider the question and make it R/C. You've put so much on it, it would be a shame to be only static when you're so close to have an exact replica of the original.
As for the styrene tracks, they were injected-molded on the original so you could just get them laser or water cut. It wouldnt cost as much as you couold think and you'd get perfect and even thread links. Just cast the 2 little greeblies which are on the inner face of those parts and it would be fantastic !

Keep up the good work my friend !

Agreed...don't stop now. Take a break and come back to it if you have to. It's so close! Listen to Julien you must......

Sorry, but i still love it RC or not, and, if your not going to really use the RC, whats the point...really? I mean, look at the cost of just one Sherman kit.

Keep going Eric, she's so beautiful, and your scratched bogies look fantastic......oh and hey, have you thought of having the links cut on a vinyl plotter? That would take just one drawing, to cut as many as you need in styrene?

I feel the same as Lee Eric, what's the point in RC if it's just not going to be used mate?. Being a static model will take nothing away from this fantastic build, I mean we build these models for ours and others pleasure to gaze over, not to have thrown up on a stand in front of bluescreen and filmed, moving, flying or whatever!.

With your needed tracks, I have access to an injection molding machine here in NZ, but I think the cost would be very costly Eric, what with having the die made etc... . Probably best to make one aster and then cast the rest!.

Again, incredible build Eric, your'e a very talented modeler my friend!.

There is no doubt the model will still be incredible, RC or no RC. My point was, when I do projects, both prop and non-prop related, and I don't finish it in the way I originally wanted to, it always eats at me. It's just the perfectionist in me. Eventually though, with most things, I'll go back and finish it right, always knowing that if I had just done it in the first place, I would have saved a bunch of time and effort. Hope that makes sense....

Thank you very much for your interesting~! my friends:)

Actually, I don't decide yet RC or Static...
During the argumments for RC or Static, I add some details...

Thanks Eric.

Hey Eric thanks. You will have built every studio model they made before me & the Falcon hit the landing pad. Lol! Your builds are always a pleasure to watch. Thanks mate. :cool
