Yeah.. as i say its a good thing you're on his case.
I really don't know Brandon's situation, or have any investment here, but compared to other instances of failed runs where people have cut and run he seems to be genuinely trying to rectify things as best he can, given his circumstance (i don't really know).. but yeah it is taking a long time.. but then these aren't the best of times to be finding well paid work to cover more than food and rent and other personal issues he's dealing with.. if that's to be believed.
I really don't know the answers because like you say without deposits up front some great runs wouldn't happen.. but it just seems there has to be some fundamental safeguards in place so RPFers can have some solid recourse should things go south with a run and folks don't loose money.

I do not agree with putting restrictions on deposits, or adding a bunch or rules on how prop runs can be done.

I have been doing these sorts of deals for over 20 years, here on the TPZ, direct by email and phone calls with developers like Rich Coyle, Dstines, Bret Jones, Eric Nagy, Matsuo, JTK, Daryl Kyle, etc. and I have been involved in countless project runs on other forums and marketplaces as well. I have never been ripped off and I don't expect I will be this time either. (Not counting Anovos)

I understand that sometimes money needs to be collected up front, especially deposits. When someone starts a project like this, they invest an enormous amount of personal time and put up the bulk of the cost out of their own pockets. They need more of a commitment than an "aye" in a forum chat.

If that’s the way it has to be because that’s the only way I will get rare impossible to find anywhere else props or props that don;t even exsist yet, then so be it. I'm aware of the risks and I am more than capable of making my own decisions.

I hope they don't go DEM here and change the rules because that will kill countless projects before they ever start, because no project manager has any guarantees that people who committed will follow through after they spent the time and money to complete a run.

Restrictions on the way project runs can work around here will kill most chances for prop people like me who don't have the skills to make thier own, to can get the props they want. This is the way that it has been done for decades, so leave it be.

It seems strange to me the one who is complaining the loudest has already gotten his refund.

TomVDJ it's one thing to lend a helping hand when asked to do so by a fellow board member, however there is also such a thing as going too far. You may be encroaching on the latter. Also I have to say, some of the statements I've seen you make in this thread come off as if you have some sort of authority here on the RPF. Not sure if that was your intent, but it's something maybe to be mindful of.

I truly hope this situation is resolved to everyone's satisfaction. Ks blaster in metal is something I've wanted since I first saw the film. I was truly saddened to see this run turn out like this. For my part, while I have no stake in this, it really doesn't seem to be that brandomack is a bad person or ever set out to defraud anyone. I can totally understand the frustration from all sides. Good luck everyone.

All members have some sort of "authority". All of them can speak their mind. That's not something you need to be mindful of. I would even encourage it. The fact that this thread is silent for weeks, even more than a month from time to time, is the result of people not speaking up.

What I've also seen in this thread is that there is no intervention of the people here that have the "real authority". I do not understand that staff did not step in years ago in this thread.
I truly hope this situation is resolved to everyone's satisfaction.
I hope so too, but I doubt it.

Anyway, if people here think it's not my business, then I can better spend my time on other things. I removed all my recent comments. I bet brandomack will be very glad that this is one loud voice less, and a bigger chance that this thread goes completely silent again.

Well, it's now up to the people that DO have a dog in this fight to be loud. Not putting my time in it anymore if it only results in getting this kind of "feedback".

Tomvdj has been a hero for the people who are still waiting for their refund that was promised! He has had his refund so he doesn't need to speak out but he has.Well done for that. There are people who won't speak out because they are scared that Brandomack puts them to the back of the refund list. Well it seems everybody is at the back of the refund list. The refund list never changes. I haven't seen any name get the "R" next to it in the list since the list was first put up!

4 members have been refunded or accepted kits since the list was put up. The next in line to receive refund is FuseNova, which is a partial payment followed by you. Not everyone was listed because in several cases, i only have their real name via paypal account, and i have avoided putting up peoples real name as substitute. I moved 3 times following the separation/divorce and several files were misplaced in the process. Apologies to Shinki-Ro and zombietwiglet for the oversight.

I have a paypal record of every person that paid and how much, and won’t walk away until every one of those people is refunded in full.

Honestly, i don’t want to be in this position of owing people, when i began the run, i underestimated how much the start-up costs were, and severely underestimated the work that needed to go into each piece. When time was plentiful, money was short and vice versa. Then i moved out, then covid hit and i was out of work for 6 months, then batwoman got cancelled, then i had to spend $20k of my parents money to pay for a lawyer to fight my ex to give me my kids back, then the writers went on strike. These things aren’t excuses, they are the shitstorm reason of why you haven’t been refunded yet.

stussy you have every right to be pissed off. Every person here does, i said i would do something, and then i didn’t follow through and for that i’m sorry. I will make it right. I don’t know how long it will take, but i will make it right.

Hi all, my kit arrived earlier this week. I feel fortunate to have some carbon fiber grips.

Posting here in case others are interested in a kit. Some parts I'll likely 3D print
