Sometimes it's not possible to have just one sample in hand without making a huge investment. If molds have to be made (sometimes metal ones), than the bulk of the cost is before even a first copy can be made. Anyway, I also understand your point. Up to the RPF staff to decide, I think.
Yeah I get that but I'm not sure what could be a better in between from what userd1402 was suggesting. Maybe instead of requiring a sample, maybe a member of forum staff gets put in charge of vetting runs of this level. A staff member could check in with the manufacturer on communities behalf before run payment collection, that way the staff member knows that run is ready to commence without making the manufacturers public, to protect the seller. IDK just spit balling here.

Cyberblock has accepted a kit as payment and as such has been crossed off the list.

I have mailed his kit and provided him with tracking information.

But why not put a CORRECT list in the first post then, so what you claim can also be verified? If 28 people have been refunded, those 28 people can confirm they were refunded, right? I'm the first one to confirm that my $300 deposit was refunded.

Nice... Only thing now: complete the list in the first page of people who still need to be refunded, because that's not complete. Like mentioned before, people like zombietwiglet are not on the list. So I guess the people you still owe money to is also a bit bigger than the list in the opening post...
Then zombietwiglet and i can work that out, otherwise butt out. You received your refund, your business is done here.

I think this could certainly be discussed. On the other hand I think that some runs might never have happened without this "system". Sometimes all things for a successful run are in place, but only the money is missing. Very respected members here like RelikMaker, Sarednab, etc... do runs where deposits are asked. Never had a problem with them, and if a run takes longer than expected to be delivered, there was always clear communication and the runs never derailed and things were delivered in the end.

Personally I also don't like being in debt with people. I dad a few runs of goldplated Aztec Pirate Coins in the past, and I also paid the goldplater from my own pocket. But we were only talking about a few hundreds of euro's then. I can imagine that it's more difficult to do the same if we are talking about a few thousands of dollars. But then again, I would feel VERY uncomfortable, taking thousands of dollars from people before having something in hand to ship out...
I think an easy fix for this would be have a 3rd party member from the RPF be in charge of the deposit account for that run, kind of like a list of vetted reputable “accountants” so to speak. Whoever is doing the run submits purchase orders or something of the sort for funds. Ensures the money is actually used for run purchases instead of rent or some other BS. Then when the run is complete additional profit is released to the creator. Something goes wrong at least there’s a pot of money for some restitution.

Just an idea, obviously there are some trustworthy creators here that probably wouldn’t need something like that, but we have to keep in mind that it’s easy for anyone to hit hard times and disappear

Tom.. you've made your point and its good.. i think Brandon's doing the best he can but also good someone's on his case.
Now.. how about dropping in on the shenanigans over on the Crystal Skull thread.. there's some real bs going on over there that could do with some highlighting to avoid similar issues for the community in future.
