Bandai release schedule

Hey just thought I'd re-ignite that old A-Wing scale conversation

Over on Facebook, a good mate of mine, John Simmons is building a Nice-N Studio Scale model of the ship....all parts have been researched & sourced including the WW1 pilot that ILM used.....He does look a bit uncomfortable in the ship

...but the does look 'armless

I think that A-Wing pilot looks way too large. Sure it fits the Studio Scale model pics, but ILM often put pilots that were not really in scale with the vehicles in there. For example, IIRC, there was an article that mentioned the Tie Fighters being built to 1/16 scale, but they used 1/24 pilot figures?

Often they are not really concerned with scale, and just want something in there for the shot.

That being said, I still think Bandai's A-Wing is still a little too large for it's scale. The pilot fits nicely compared to what we see in the live set as well as the other pilot figure used by ILM in some shots of the filming model.

However, the Bandai pilot is way to big for 1/72 scale.

I think the A-Wing looks best somewhere in between. Basically, take the Bandai as is, and scale the pilot and ship proportionally down to 1/72

A couple IMHOs:

- If we're going to start calling the TIE Strike the "flying suppository," then the TIE bomber must also be dubbed the "double suppository." I mean, fair is fair. I, for one, like the Striker. I felt it fit the OT aesthetic very well. And I'm not sure what movie you guys saw, but the Striker was in the movie about as much as the standard TIE. I'd also like a U-Wing in 1/72, but that doesn't mean Bandai screwed up by offering the Striker in 1/72.

- I also can't help but like the size of ILM/Simmons A-Wing pilot. I like the idea of the A-Wing as a souped up soapbox racer. I bumped up the scale of the pilot on my Bandai build and it looks right (even if it's wrong).

Agree with all these points - the U-Wing in 1:72 would be amazing. I vaguely remember reading that the TIE Striker was much more prominent in an earlier cut of Rogue One, and given the long lead times on producing models, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what's responsible for the seeming mis-match in which model was picked for the 1:72 treatment.

A TIE Reaper in 1:72 would be huge - it's actually larger than the Millennium Falcon!

I had no idea the Reaper was so large ! Interesting.

I always thought the bomber was the double Coke can or in ILM's 70s style: the double beer can.

Well, well, well. Here's a big tease:

What was the last kit Bandai released with a Teaser first?
They typically just release photos from shows or post online- I think this may be a very interesting kit release!

I'm hoping for something new, too... It's about time we get unreleased kits... I'd be happy with a 1/144th Sandcrawler (y)

My wild guess - some variant of the PG falcon, because bandai loves reusing molds and selling them as p-bandai. Not sure if ESB or sequel variant, but I'd guess it will be mix of both, because they'll take current falcon and slap mirrored pits on it :p
