Bandai release schedule

Talking about A-Wings,....I guess this puts to bed the scale issue with the Bandai kit,......Looks like they got it right again

Blueprints of the full size set ship....link from the Replica model section,.... #1

The full-size sets of the Falcon were intentionally undersized relative to their intended "real" scale, as were many other full-sized props, so I don't think a blueprint like this really puts the scale question to bed. I mean, even in this drawing the proportions of the ship are off compared to the studio model. At the end of the day, these are fantasy spaceships. The scale is whatever the filmmakers needed on the schedule and budget they had at the time to make the shot look cool. I put a 1/48 pilot in my Bandai A-Wing because it looks more like the studio model. It looks "right" to me. So to me it's 1/48 but people can call it whatever they like.

Is it just me or do those screenshots look like a cut and pastes in Photoshop.
For example, why would all those Star Destroyers line up on almost the same 2D plane? Looks amateurish.

Looks like they are lined up as if they were placed there in atmosphere. Hiding maybe? Waiting for whatever doomsday plan Palpatine orchestrated for the galaxy?? Doesn't look like it's in space anyway. Looks like it's in an atmosphere - so maybe they are lined up like a car lot for a reason.

On the plus side - Bandai has those 1/14500 scale Star Destroyer model kits if anyone wants to go berserker mode and recreate that scene from the trailer with some black velvet, cotton and flashing blue white LEDs. Someone from Japan is going to. You know they are.

It's 'an amazing movie', is it? Well that's good to hear - I would certainly love to be amazed by a Star Wars movie again, and I do hope you enjoyed your exclusive sneak early viewing. Remember, no spoilers! Anyways, not sure where you got that, but no, that's not where the new films have lost me. I would have been just fine if we had moved to a period beyond where the original cast was involved at all. I just can't get behind a lead character who has never had to struggle or been even seriously challenged once through two films. How am I supposed to get excited and root for a character who sails through every obstacle placed in her way? I was unimpressed by what I saw in TFA as a boring and frankly lazy as hell reset of the galaxy back to where things were in ANH. I was disappointed in a second film that went nowhere in terms of stakes, that left things essentially where they started plot-wise, and that honestly hasn't set up any pressing new questions or conflicts that need to be resolved in the last film. I've gotten bored by a main villain who has been resoundingly defeated every time he encounters our hero. And I mean beaten like a rented mule. What tension is left in that relationship to mine? Ultimately I see a franchise either too lazy or too scared to legitimately try anything new, written by people who don't seem willing, for whatever reasons, to let what is supposed to be their new flagship character fail. I see what was sold to us as a trio of co-leads reduced to Rey and her idiot sidekicks...who don't share any screen time with her.
.
Anyways, none of which has anything to do with Bandai kits, so I'll leave it there.
Not to mention how inconsequential they are, because in the new canon last order from Palpatine was "take all of the imperial fleet and make kamikaze attack n rebel fleet" because he didnt want to empire outlive him (thus battle of jakku, destruction of the empire and rise of the first order with it's own capital ships designs). So it makes no damn sense in this continuity. I also wouldnt be suprised if that's just another lazy rehash from EU (lost Katana fleet from thrawn trilogy)

Well good to see that Bandai matches official blueprints

Correct me if i am wong. There were (are?) two a-wing models. One with big pilot, one with small pilot. I think bandai was given one with small pilot as reference. It matches blueprints scale and canon scale better.

Let's just hope they don't do that when it comes time to release an Imperial shuttle. The studio set was a completely different animal from the studio model.

Okay, so this confirms that you can just build this out of the box and get a decent light effect--I will buy this. Seems like there's not much light spread along the sides of the superstructure (which is kind of a glaring, you'll excuse the expression, issue) but otherwise I'm very impressed by the look of the light system.

Its beautiful, but a bit small, I feel, for the subject. The Zvezda isn't huge but I think it is a good size for an SD. I'll wait and see what the prices on the STD version do before I get one.

Very stoked for this kit. And despite the incredible engineering and detail - the scale does make me appreciate the fact I am still slaving on the Zvezda. I will likely build this kit straight out of the box without going batpoop crazy on fiber and window etching to make more window lights - but if this guy used the opaque parts to get that look - I am heartily impressed.

Sadly, the Standard version does not come with the lighting LED kit - and I am hard- pressed to find it for sale separately (as I read it is the same lighting module and LEDs for the PG Falcon - but I have my doubts on that seeing that video posted above). I pre-ordered the lighting version this kit and they are not yet here stateside.

Better hurry. Most places are sold out of this limited edition. I pre-ordered mine from Monsters In Motion back in February and also from Amazon as some retailers often oversell their pre-orders. My Amazon order was canceled two weeks ago for an unspecified reason from the Prime seller and no one else is selling these on Amazon for less than $200. I have seen that there have been problems with fulfillment due to clerical errors. Bandai is not making more of these kits available unfortunately but I hope that will change if the demand is there.

Around $80 at most places I have seen with pre-orders.

C'mon Gundam USA pre-order! Although I suppose it could be a few weeks before they get shipment. Ah, well.

This guy also had delivery problems from Bandai for the limited lighted version. Here he unboxes the Standard Version, which is HALF the price and does note that an experienced modeler with lighting skills could easily install his own lighting and LEDs in this kit and piggyback on the instructions from Bandai to essentially light the standard kit cheaper. My only note is that some diffusing acrylic sections in the Limited Edition version are not included in the standard version and that may require some crafting of styrene sheets to mimic those. Still a beautiful and incredibly detailed kit despite the scale. It looks like it is definitely going to be the most definitive and accurate RETAIL version of the Star Destroyer in a styrene model kit ever produced.

Next new Bandai release about to show up stateside. Mini-kit of the Executor Super Star Destroyer.

I also ordered this kit as I really enjoyed the Death Star II, Blockade Runner, Falcon and Star Destroyer and they look great atop the 'puter.

It really doesn't look bad at all, though the light does twinkle through some of the holes, could use some diffusion there.

Yeah, seems like the diffusing pieces are a MUST--I just wish I had something similar for the Zvezda. I drilled tons of holes in mine and then wound up ripping out the fiber optics because I just ran out of room.
