Wow. *Three* separate slides on three sides there. Bandai doesn't mess around with high-quality injection moulding.

Original one worked for me, I have now removed the #more tag at the end.

In the 1st video he says that the clear parts have holes drilled/cast into them as he looks them over. In the 2nd video he appears to be reading when he says that some clear resin is used to fill the holes in the clear parts.

The clear parts really have the same light holes as the non-clear?!

I would think so. I would think it is from the same molds, just different plastic. That is why the antennae is clear, it was on the same sprue as the other pieces that they wanted clear.

At the first confirmation of Bandai for the lighted SD I thought the clear parts are more internal parts for the backside of the predrilled non-colored parts to guide the light from the LEDs to the right points.
But i guess the idea is, that we get two or more options for lighting. One with the standard-parts (non-clear), where you can use the prepared "holes" to put in fiber-optics and/or LED-light, that shines through these openings. The other version with the clear parts gives you the opportunity to paint the clear parts first and then take a needle or a small drill to remove color from pintip-sized spots additional to the pre-drilled holes to get more lit tiny "windows" (and you cann still add fiberoptics/LED-lighting as with the non-clear parts)...

On the instructions for the star destroyer It mentions here and there that the lighting kit “is sold separately”. So perhaps Bandai’s intention is to actually sell it as an aftermarket unit, like the lighting unit for the TFA Falcon.

The lighting kit's already listed on Bandai's site. If you're curious, it's the same lighting kit for the PG Falcon so the Standard Edition can get lit too.

Why would you provide pre-drilled holes and then not provide internal illumination that works with that? Bandai did a brilliant job on this with their Star Trek kits. I would definitely buy this if I didn't have to drill holes and/or stick fiber optics into it myself (I already wasted hours and hours of my life doing that with the Zvezda kit).

I've been reading about the kit and I have some questions. I'm thinking maybe I'll pass on this one because I'm not having any spare time this year and my stack of models is getting out of hand and I hate that. Please help me out.

Is the LED kit a limited edition? Or is there some bonus material inside the LED kit that is limited to the first run but the LED kit will still be available after that first run is sold out? Somebody got that wrong on the internet cause I'm reading stuff in both directions.

Imagine I try to get one of these in a couple of years but I can only find the standard version and by then I want the lights. Is the standard version pre-drilled as well? If not, is there like a template, guide, map or something, to drill star destroyers?

Out of curiosity. I haven't decided yet whether I'll get the LED version or the standard, or none.

The standard edition has the pre-drilled windows. The lighting kit is available separately or you can make your own.

"First edition limited edition specification"

The instruction manual comes with a lighting model version with an explanation page edited by "Seiji Takahashi". (* 1)
■ Additional clear exterior parts for enjoying built-in LEDs. (* 2)
■ Special booklet for clear exterior parts produced by pro modeler “Dr. (* 3)
■ The package is a large format package (* 4) limited to the first production.

Music to my ears. No dilemma then. Thanks!

It seems Revell hasn't said a word yet about the European distribution of the kit, at least that I know of, and some misunderstanding must have been posted somewhere.

Dang...so...the standard kit will have pre-drilled lighting holes, and you can buy the lighting kit separately. I'm reconsidering my pre-order of the limited edition kit. If everything is pre-drilled, I'm not really seeing the value of the clear parts for an extra fifty bucks or whatever it is. Things that make you go "hmmmmm"

AFAIK they still didnt release all of the previous bandai models, so I wouldnt put too much faith on them

The pre-molded holes are too large and there aren't enough of them. I'm more interested in the clear parts for allowing more accurate windows. It's just DUMB that the clear parts have the same holes.
