Bandai release schedule

Yes. there were two of theese models. This one with small pilot and other one (witch was presented on SW exhibitions) with big pilot. Maybe bandai just get this one for their measurements:).

I like this analysis A-wing Size

For me 7m is good "compromise" between all different sources and it is closer to this production drawing witch I like :).

Pilot in 7m long A-wing looks like this:

So this is how I like my A-wing:).

Did you mean this image?

Yes! thank you

Yeah - that one seems to support the theory that the Bandai A-wing is sized correctly relative to, say, the X-wing, regardless of which pilot figure they used for the 1/72 version.

Actually, at least to me, it supports that the Bandai pilot is appropriately sized for the ship. However that means the pilot is too big for 1/72 though, so that would seem to suggest the ship is as well

However, I am not sure it is as small as some people think it should be. I like the compromise in size bigpetr suggest above

The green one is the A-wing... middle one looks like an x-wing pilot, and the third one from the left is the b-wing... They are all '1/72' scale.

PE-Set for the Bandai B-Wing from Greenstrawberries incl. landing gear is out now:

A/SF-01 B-Wing Starfighter
Nice photoetch but I do not think those are landing gear- they look more like vehicle support stands you keep in the service bay and place underneath the fighter when you are working on it.

I do wish someone would release an aftermarket set of landing gear for the Bandai B-Wing- I want to build my second in a hangar diorama

Well, the thing about B-wing landing gear is that the movie models never had any. Even the Home One matte painting implies one but doesn't show anything. So basically you have to make something up, maybe like an X-wing one. Or something like that animated cartoon one.

Maybe the B-Wing had repulsor lifts, like the Naboo fighter. No landing gear required. Until something canon is released, the gear could be anything. Just make your own interpretation. You won't be wrong! (y)

Could be

After all MPC gave us landing gear for both the Tie Interceptor and the A-wing, but skipped landing gear on the B-Wing

Although I think Kenner/Hasbro might have landing gear on the toy

I forgot about the MPC TIE landing gear. Or maybe I blocked it out. It's all a crap shoot. In the OT we see TIE's hanging from gantry racks, suggesting there are no landing gear. Then in Rebels we see TIEs just resting on their solar panels. It's all madness. Madness!

IIRC the Art of The Force Awakens book had some sketches showing how TIEs could land, I think the hexagonal panels could split and shift. The book is at home so I will have to look it up tonight.

Yes, that's in there. I never was fond of the idea of TIEs landing. I always thought of them as a true space fighter, and one the Empire intentionally kept as uncomfortable and cheap as possible. No cabin environmental pressure (so wear your damn bucket, soldier!), engines so fast and dangerously hot that it needs huge radiators (not solar panels) to dissipate the heat, and short range so it never strayed too far from its home ship.

Until all the defined diagrams of the TIE came out I thought the actual engines were those hexagonal panels using some sort of field effect for travel.
I was so disappointed to find out they were supposed to be solar panels (rather stupid in deep space) and those two tiny red lights at the back were supposed to be it's ultra fast engines...

Just started my B-Wing, and man, after recently wrestling with complex jet kits (with waaay too much after market stuff), a Bandai SW build is like modeling therapy. :) Should have fun with this one.

Oh, and thanks for the Bluefin sale heads-up, E. Williams! I might grab a K2SO.

Looks great!

Bandai kits sure are the most accurate and detailed kits we have ever seen for Star Wars.

The only "problem" I had with the B-Wing was some noticeable gaps that needed to be filled ( mainly on the rear cone and also on the bottom of the main wing where the grey parts meet the main wing)

Those were quick and easy to fix by gluing and then using some filler and most other places the fit was perfect enough that nothing was needed

Thanks! And thanks for heads up re: gaps. I've had to fill a couple in their other SW kits.

And for anyone who's interested, Vallejo's polyurethane acrylic grey primer 70-601 is, as far as I can tell, an exact match to the color of the unpainted body parts (assuming this is also close to Bandai's recommended paint mix of light gull grey and white). Archive X reefer white seems too warm/yellow to my eye....but maybe that's what ILM used? Who knows?
