Attention: BANDAI will stop selling kits outside Japan

Re: Attention: BANDAI may stop selling kits outside Japan

This may sound redundant but when they say "exclusive to japan", do they really mean Japan?

I lived in Hong Kong for a while and you could get ANYTHING there. They prided themselves on their open "grey" market.

And I have a ton of friends there still

Ok I have a slightly off topic question but does this supposed stoppage extend to Bandai's action figures also? cause it seems that a few of the online stores I shop for these figures have had the prices skyrocketed or have stop taking orders for them.

Re: Attention: BANDAI may stop selling kits outside Japan

I just ordered the snowspeeder, tie fighter and slave one.... Just in case

Re: Attention: BANDAI may stop selling kits outside Japan

I just order the falcon on ebay . I hope to get it.:unsure

Re: Attention: BANDAI may stop selling kits outside Japan

HLJ still selling some to overseas customers is possibly just them exploiting a loophole of a sort, remember AmiAmi selling a few of the kits from their bargain bin even as the rest have all been delisted, thus when their stocks sell out, it's game over for us.

True. Some of the Gundam model kits being sold in Asia even come from HK, probably delivered from Japan to HK dealers.

I can forsee Bandai slipping some of its SW kits to its preferred distributors in Asia, where no one gives a damn about the license, TBH I haven't been to a toy store since the first Star Wars kits were released.
But then there's this: http://starwarscollector.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Starship-Modeler.jpg

Re: Attention: BANDAI may stop selling kits outside Japan

It is not just model kits affected. Supposedly Revotech Star Wars kits (non-model kits) are also included with more to come.

Regardless of how it may or may not have started, this is not simply Disney dealing with Bandai on behalf of Revell. Bandai most likely just happens to be the biggest producer of products so that is the logical place to start enforcing. Take out the big guy to scare the little ones into submission

This is a directive from Disney to Bandai resulting from a contractual breach that Bandai initiated by not informing their domestic market retailers that they cannot ship Star Wars kits overseas.

US customs is not concerned as there are no laws being broken by importing a Bandai Star Wars kit.

Once your kits ship you will get them... well you will probably get them depending on what mood the postal carriers are in that day!

Here's a question. I have preordered the slave one from HLJ

Will they cancel this order?

I forgot to mention im in the UK. and also the kit (MF 1/144) is preorder, should be to me by end of october. i think royal mail or parcel force are very understaffed so likely they dont check most things. although i guess it could be down to customs. i did get the seller to mark it as model kit and not to mention star wars or bandai in the shipping documents, so hopefully this will work. I will let the RPF know if it arrives and when. best of luck guys and girls, hope we all get a chance to own these amazing kits

Re: Attention: BANDAI may stop selling kits outside Japan

So, to sum this up: Disney can abuse the H1B Visa system to replace their long time loyal employees with lower paid H1B workers from India but we can't be allowed to buy Star Wars models from Japan. I think that sums the whole hypocrisy up nicely.
This was my thoughts exactly. Disney has turned into a despicable company and I refuse to give them any of my hard-earned money. Since they bought the ILM properties I no longer will participate in their profits, whether film or model kits. I'm probably in a small minority on this but after hearing those employees stories I say to hell with Disney and everything they own.

Did the same best luck to you too :$ Finger crossed!

It's not the end of the world, they're only model kits after all. I reckon just waiting it out is the best option, if there's a clamp down on import/export of Bandai's kits it will be maintained for a few months and then fizzle out as copyright holders lose interest. Then it'll be easier to import, but in the meantime there's going to be a mad frenzy to buy Bandai kits with horrific markups for maximum profit.

I couldn't agree more.
I've been reading all these posts and was thinking precisely the same.
I can wait.

Don't forget. Disney is the same company that forced daycares to take down painting of their characters and told a stone mason he could not carve a winnie the pooh on a child's grave stone all in the name of not allowing unlicensed use of their characters to which other paying license holders might object
