Art Asylum / Diamond Select TOS Phaser build with metal parts.

The b&w hero fins should look just like the midgrade type, just lines scribed into the surface. Here's the best view I know of that shows them on a b&w.

You could do it as a stack of styrene sheets, alternating the width so one is flush with the surface and the next slightly under.

That may be the best way to do it, tobor did that with his b&w and it looks good. I'm not sure exactly how many lines there should be though, it looks like 7 in the photo. :confused How many lines do you count :confused

It looks like they carved seven grooves, leaving six raised louvers. So make six wide plastic fins (even with the body) and seven narrow fins (just slightly below the body surface). Use a thicker sheet for the six fins, and thinner sheet for the seven grooves. It'll take some measuring and some trial and error to determine the proper thickness to use. I'll have to do the same for my scratch build but I haven't gotten to that part yet.

Most impressive! Dedication to the art.
Thanks!

Here are my fins, they took a lot of work to create them.:cry
Now time to get the painting done on the phaser.

Now if only God could make it a bit less expensive. Well, he can't do everything...:love

Rob's right, good work, dude.:thumbsup
Thanks Chris!

I was able to get the paint done. It looks factory fresh like it came off the starfleet assembly line.:lol As soon as it hardens I will attach the metal parts and get a photo up.

This is a great thread, so much useful information here.

It's inspired me to work on my AA phaser once my Enterprise build is complete.

Does anyone have any comparison pics of the various metal parts available? Whose are the most accurate?

Here are the pics of the finished black and white phaser with the metal parts on it. What do you all think :confused
Can we issue these to the cadets after they graduate from starfleet academy:lol
