Possible, but it seemed logical to me that Mr Shanko's original negative post here, with good physical points, would have certainly been upsetting to the buyer, and he may well have contacted him.
I also think there has been proactive auction responses all during this pre-auction buildup. Certainly, someone is sabre rattling, threatening lawsuits, and the like.

Does anyone remember a fiberglass copy of the 11 foot Enterprise from the early to mid 80’s? It had a little spaceman glued to the front of the saucer for scale. I was just a kid when I saw it at Mid-Ohio Con. The owner (or person manning the booth) claimed to have made moulds from the original 11 foot. That’s obviously BS, but I remember the model as being really well done.
EDIT: I might have seen it at Superman’s 50th birthday celebration (1988) in Cleveland, OH.

Sorry guys. Member Ronshanko was banned so long ago our system didn't catch that he was a previously banned member. While his previous ban was years ago, our rule of "once banned - always banned" still applies. His new account has been banned as well.

All but impossible... in the past ten years, I can think of ONE person we "unbanned." Sockpuppets do pop up from time to time and our system usually catches them. This was an exception.

The only 'unbanning' I ever recall seeing before was down to administration change. I don't recall Art having ever unbanned anyone. Very strange. All the speculation of lawsuits - on what grounds? Saying you don't believe something in an auction is genuine? Defamation is extremeley difficult to prove at the best of times, but an opinion on a website?I was unaware that a person could be "unbanned"...
Back-handers seem far more likeley....

Contrary to what Ron stated, I remain unconvinced there was a genuine buyer.
When I see it show up in an article, even a Creation Entertainment one at that, along with the buyers name, I'll concede the issue.
If it shows up at a museum with a placard stating it is on loan from Gerry Of, I'll concede the issue.
Until then, I'm not convinced it has an actual buyer. Everything about this auction screams FAKE.

This has been a heck of a roller coaster. At this point, do we even know if it WAS Ron Shanko? I mean,if it wasn't, that would explain referring to himself in the third person.... Except that is apparently something he has been known to do, so maybe or was him...

For whatever else is going on, don't read too much into the "Make Offer to Owner" button on the Heritage website -- this is a standard program they've had on their site for many years. If you miss an item you really wanted, they have software in place where you can make an offer to buy it from whoever bought it in their auction -- the "profit margin" is pre-programmed (can't remember the percentage), and the buyer is of course free to refuse any offers that s/he deems too low. It's all done through the Heritage system, and the buyer and person making an offer are not in direct contact unless an agreement is made. This is a part of virtually all Heritage auctions, so it's not part of some grand conspiracy here.
