11th Doctor blue bowties / series 6 costume discussion

It seems it might be here to stay, Steven Moffat said something about the doctor changing costume, as the old one reminded him too much of the ponds. Can't remember where i found it, looking back for it now. Here's the full context, it was said on Doctor Who and the Tardis by Craig Hurle's Facebook page

Steven Moffat, showrunner for the long-running science fiction show, tells us the eleventh doctor will be in for a change in his attire this upcoming series. Following the departure of companions Amy and Rory Pond, the doctor will reportedly begin to despise his current style as it reminds him too much of the Ponds. “But not the bow tie,” Moffat says with a laugh. “The bow tie stays.”

Well, i must say that i certainly preferred the old look, but maybe i'll change my mind at some point.

Hmm, God bless the internet! That was picked up by an internet news page, from a post in the "spoiler" section on the Gallifrey Base forum, and, if you clicked the spoiler tags in that very post, the author declared it to be a joke post to see how long before it was reported as fact...

EDIT: as pointed out by modernboy almost immediately!

I realy must read all posts before replying! ;)

Sorry if I'm late to the party on this one, but I just saw on the Abbyshot blog that they're producing a licensed green 11 coat.

I'm really impressed with the magnoli and steve ricks replicas, but the abbyshot price point is always great!

Yeah is there any date on when this should be released?

Love the Doctors new coat but not ready to say goodbye to the tweed....especially after the money I've invested in mine.

Abbyshot just said "later this year" in February, so who knows? If they can get the fabric right, this should be good.

Pumpkiny says the coat fabric is madly-don't-even-ask-expensive. So i wonder how much it would be for the coat.

It depends which tweed coat?

The shetland tweed version would be cheaper to produce than the Mackenzie "two by two" dogtooth tweed. Harris Tweed Textile Manufacturing Ltd will weave for anyone who can afford it, but can they afford it?

This fabric.

Do you know the name of the tweed used?

I'm going to guess that it must be a Highland tweed based on Moffat's scoytishness.

It is not highland tweed and I do know the name of it but the best guy to speak to is pumpkiny as he is the one who is making these jackets..
