11th Doctor blue bowties / series 6 costume discussion

It isn't. You can only dye something darker than it already is. And dye is transparent, so the color is affected by the underlying color.

Polyester is notoriously hard to dye as well. It requires special order dyes, and serious boiling, and still gets mixed results.

Silk dyes like a dream though.

In regards to the G Star jeans.... I have seen one or two sights selling *ahem* "replica" G Stars for around $45 ( less if you buy more). They are hard to see on my iPhone butch fit the bill for costume purposes especially if waxed. Anybody up for a group buy?

I figured I would throw an image out there of the closest ones I have found (with others agreeing).. These are NOT slim and would have to be tailored, as well as other modifications. They may also need to be dyed, and waxed. But with the real ones drying up fast, as well as how expensive they are, they may be an option. Again, just to clarify, these are NOT genuine G stars What say you?

Mmmm, those yellow stripes on the legs on the front of the trousers, are an absolute no-go. If they weren't there, they might be good.

They're not stripes, they're seams. They could be torn apart and stitched with black thread to be less noticeable.

Hmm, maybe, but considering the hassle of removing that, getting them re-tailored to a skinny fit, and removing the 96 on the back and more. It might not be worth the hassle, considering that effort, i've seen better/easier matches.

I have sent an email to one of the vendors to see if that style is available in a slim fit, or even if a stylus is available even closer to the Blade. I will keep you updated.

My oh my, a new outfit, and this time (it seems) to stay.

It seems it might be here to stay, Steven Moffat said something about the doctor changing costume, as the old one reminded him too much of the ponds. Can't remember where i found it, looking back for it now. Here's the full context, it was said on Doctor Who and the Tardis by Craig Hurle's Facebook page

Steven Moffat, showrunner for the long-running science fiction show, tells us the eleventh doctor will be in for a change in his attire this upcoming series. Following the departure of companions Amy and Rory Pond, the doctor will reportedly begin to despise his current style as it reminds him too much of the Ponds. “But not the bow tie,” Moffat says with a laugh. “The bow tie stays.”

Well, i must say that i certainly preferred the old look, but maybe i'll change my mind at some point.

Hmm i know this might be a bit irrelevant, but i found this picture, showing the doctor wearing the doctor with 2 buttons closed, quite interesting. It also shows just how slim fit the jacket really is, i don't even think it's possible to close the third button.

Harold that quote from Moffat re: a new costume was actually a joke made up by someone on GB to see if people would buy it (which they did of course). Still might be a new regular costume though.

And yes the jacket is very slim fitting.
