1/9th Scale Jaws Orca (NECA Size)

Lets start this thread with why I started building the Orca. Neca did it, they made me do it, I had no choice........after seeing their Jaws action figures of course. Neca did a great job on Quint and Hooper (arrival and shark cage). Sadly no Brody. I do talk with Trevor Grove the designer of the Neca Jaws heads often. I'll only say this about a possible Brody figure. Uncross your fingers, stop holding your breath and be patient,.........In the meantime, ( I couldn't wait) I built a custom figure with the 3D printing help of a friend of mine.

Did you ever think of all that stuff that was on the Orca or the stuff Quint, Hooper, and Brody brought on board......Ohhhhhhhhhhhh no don't do that, Don't......Oh Ya Did it..................

Man, all that Brody figure needs is a cigarette hanging out the side of his mouth, ; ) He's got that perfect wide eyed look that says , " we're gonna need a bigger boat " !

and I must say your sewing on the costume is way better than mine. You’ve got the belts, watch , life vests wow hats off.

The only thing I had to sew and dye was Hoopers pink shirt and Brodys short sleeve shirt. The rest of the wardrobe came from a company called Classic TV Toys, a Mego (Action Jackson) size figure store in Florida. Brodys jeans, shirts, belts gun belt, watch, boots all came from them. Wish I could find Brodys wet weather pants and jacket. You did a smashing job on your Brody. Maybe someday Neca will surprise us with a Brody and shark.
Speaking of Neca, you should post some pictures on Neca's Facebook and Twitter accounts so Randy Falk (Neca's chief designer) can see your work. Randy is a huge Jaws finatic.

Can I ask, where did you get all these wonderful toys? Is there an Orca store I have never heard of?

I couldn't even begin to tell you, because honestly, you're looking at 3 years of finding things that would fit the orca, right down to the toilet (yes I even found that). If I had to give you an answer, ebay, Amazon, shapeways, toy companies, Google searches that take you places you'd never think of looking at in the first place. Ship model stores, and just plain luck finding things.

Okay thank you. It looked like that with all the different baggies and what not. Amazing work.

I don't think I've ever had so many calculations and angles go through my head. To top it off the dip in the deck produced the biggest optical illusion in keeping the cabin and cabin deck level with the top deck. So many times that voice in my head asked, OK where did you mess up.

Time to carve the bow. With an extreme plank bend in the bow the balsa will give the planks something to grab on to......and if she ever sinks the bow won't go under...........
