1/72 Hoth Echo Base Hangar diorama

*pokes head into thread*

Fantastic build Ross! I was trying to get a PG Falcon to add to my stash this past Christmas but wound up spending that money on traveling back east. We'll see what my tax return brings this year hee hee. :D

Will you be using oils for final weathering?

Underside lighting with the ramp area looks perfect (aside from snipping the fibers when your done)

The chipping effects turned out great as well and the maintenance pits are looking great, especially "pit 4"
many thanks my friend! I watched a lot of you tube on the chipping, and then I did confer with Master Korban on how he does it. worked beautifully. I suppose it's entirely possible that I've over done the lighting...BUT, it should look pretty good on a slightly dark shelf when it's all powered up.(y)

hey thanks Guns! good of you to chime in from time to time(y) I'm guessing you're still toiling away on your IDS, should be a sight to see when you're done, it's probably a sight now.
I've not ventured into oils myself, Korban likes the oils though and he get phenomenal results with it. I pretty much stick with washes and dry pastels, but I seem to always get what I'm after...as long as I take it slow:lol:

oh, and yes...definitely allocate some funds for a PG, it's the most fun kit I've done since the ISD!

Not as finely detailed as INVAR's build but I'm slugging along. Learning the trick of pre-marking window locations with a needle before going at them with .030 bits lol.

YouTuber FitchenFoo has an excellent tutorial on oils in his MF videos:

Invar is a mad genius is he not? I've got a small straight scribe with a screwdriver type handle that I sharpened the tip on for marking drill holes, sure helps keep the lined straighter

did the upper jaw, nothing really new but i took some more lighting pics...big whoop

I was admiring my now unfettered work space, the famous "kitchen Table" LOL, and thought I would share. Since the ex had an antique buffet on the wall, full of her kitchen stuff, once she moved I decided I should have my own. Of course its full of modeling stuff, kits, rattle cans, tools, air brush and compressor and reference material. I did sort of chuckle to myself at the vinyl MF wall sticker. When I bought that package of stickers at wall mart, she asked, 'where do you plan to put all those?"...some are on the walls of my office at work. one day she said, "you can put your Falcon on the wall above your roll away supply drawers", really? I thought to myself...she just gave me permission to put ONE sticker on a wall that belonged to me long before I ever met her. Kinda funny

Oh, and I assembled the ventral cannons last night too, big whoop huh

I have a whole room dedicated to my craft...lol... Who needs a whole table to eat at anyway? lol
Exactly, dinner never lasts more than 10 to 15 minutes anyway (y)
I've been thinking since the guest room is now empty and in the middle of the house, converting it to a display room. I never open the window in there when the weather is nice, only the ones at each end of the house. So it won't get inundated with dust, I can close the door and it'll stay pretty clean. I'm going to run out of shelves in the living room pretty quick. I'm going to put modular adjustable shelves on at least two walls and that sould last several years I think. There's another room in the front of the house for guests and that's rare these days anyway.

just want to say to all you fellas...

The level of quality in my work has improved (in my opinion) vastly in the last year or so and a lot of that has to do with all you guys showing me the way and pushing me to do better. it's very satisfying and is sure to continue.
Thanks my brothers (y)

nothing out of the ordinary really, just a little progress. I've been distracted a bit this week, chasing tail...unsuccessfully :(

Thanks Ged!
the general method I pretty much picked up on You Tube, but as always with the unknown I touch base with Brother Korban for confirmation and how he goes about it...as usual, success(y)
