You have never seen the Blade Runner blaster before - PHOTOS RESTORED

Or it is a different hero as the wires in the screen cap are under the cover whereas the wires in this hero are on the outside. So some of the features may be a little different...

I can aggree with that. :thumbsup

Finally I get to see the real deal. Can anyone get more information on the background and where it's been for all this time? Thanks :cheers :thumbsup

I've never seen the film or had any interest in this prop, but I must say it does look pretty cool and it must be a popular piece to get NINE pages worth of feeback in TWO days.

The problem with threads like this, that go into multiple pages is that people tend to gloss over threads, especially if they haven't been reading since the start.

PhasePistol and RacProps are doing an article with the person(s) that have the current ownership of these props. When it gets published (online I believe) I'm certain we'll be made aware.

Cheers.

Oh come on. You can't expect EVERYONE to have seen this film. Who knows, I might just like it... if I could find one that is since ALL of my video rental places have movies that are ONLY (and believe me I'ne checked) from 1990-Now. Pretty sad isn't it.

I bought the director's cut of Blade Runner the day it came out on DVD... even though it was another 4 months before I could afford to buy a DVD player to watch it with. :)

Lighten up on the folks who haven't seen Bladerunner.. that'll change when the kick ass DVD box comes out. :D

Folks with crappy local video rentals should look into Netflix... I joined it recently and found it to be pretty easy and painless. This is not a plug. :rolleyes

Well, it's an old holy grail prop in these parts. There have been stunt casting in circulation for many years, but the firing hero prop has always been like bigfoot. Only fuzzy pictures. hahaha

Add to the fact that the hero gun was changed after it was cast, and folks knew that, it's been one of those props many of dream about seeing in the light of day.

This is why it holds such interest, and this thread has become what it has become so quickly. I suspect this thread won't slow down for a good few weeks, maybe longer.

It's been discussed on the boards here so many times, for so many years, with no clear pics of the hero EVER, and this is why fans of the blaster are freaking out.

And as for not seeing the film, it's a great movie. You should definately check it out ASAP. Also, there are two versions of the film though, one with narrative, one without. But the reason we love the blaster and other props so much, is because we love the film.

And Phil's right. Our interest in this stuff is NOT natural. Even the folks who build props for films sometimes don't understand it. I tried explaining to my girlfriend why this is such a huge discovery and she couldn't be bothered to even pretend to be ecited for me. :lol

I've been meaning to ask this.

Karl, does this happen when the bolt is open? Is the "probe" spring loaded, or just attached to the bolt??

Thank you.

I noticed that and I'm willing to bet that the "probe" is the end of firing pin on the bolt of the Steyr.

One thing about Bladerunner is us sci fi geeks were vindicated by it in later years.
I saw the damn thing several times in theaters then and loved it but I remember people kinda dumping on it back then.

It got so so reviews when it first came out. there was a glut of sci fi movies after Star Wars came out and this was a different kind of story.
It was a different role for Ford playing a bit of a square too.

And now it is recognized as the timeless classic that it truly is.

I think Siskel and Ebert actually rewrote their reviews later saying that it was better then they initially said it was. HA. Too dang funny.

I remember getting chills when Batty grabs Deckard and saves him in the end.

I wish they could make things this good again. I just dont see much of that happening these days. Sad.

There has been something about this gun that has always intrigued me. Even as a kid, whatching this movie I thought 'MAN. Now THATS a gun.'

Incidentally, I beleive Blade Runner DEFINATELY has THEE best death scene in any movie, when Batty dies. Simple, yet imaginative.

I'm afraid I have to say "no comment" on the spike in the front there. Prior agreement. Sorry.

Damn. Here we go with the secrets.... :unsure

;)

Is this something we'll learn about later on, say, in Rich's article, or is this something we'll have to wait a LONG time to know about??

Hmmmmmm :love
