"BASE COAT OF VINTAGE RESIN COLOR?????"

Thats f&6kin Brilliant. Talk about attention to detail.

Nicely done.

Added a base coat of Vintage Resin color to go under the area's that are quite heavily chipped (especially the nose cone) I did this on the Snow speeder & it worked great .....bugger :angry

Re: X-Wing Madness. Finished!

Thanks Michel. Hows the weather over there at the moment?

the weather is bad ! rain ,wendy exept today finally some sun but only 16 degrees !!!!
which other models have you done before the interceptor and X wing ?

Re: X-Wing Madness. Finished!

The weather is bad hear to, the worst summer for years & years.

I've only done one other V2 X-wing, My At-St & the Tie Int, Probe Droid & the V3. I only bought my airbrush 11 months ago I think. Oh & my MR snowspeeder repaint!

Most of the weathering I do I learnt when I painted some Han blasters a few years back, I did about 8 in total.

I taught myself how to use the airbrush as quickly as I could, I spent weeks & weeks going through all the great builds here & on other sites & just made as many notes as I could. If you look in the right places, you can pick up a wealth of knowledge.

Re: X-Wing Madness. Finished!

Its weird, I'm actually enjoying doing these shots nearly as much as painting the Red 3 itself. This is one of the first tests I did I wasn't going to put it up as it looked a bit cartoony but it really makes the weathering stand out on the lower hull. If Kurt & some of the other guy's don't mind I want to do a big montage with all the great X wing builds in it, I think it would be great to see all our builds in one shot?

Julien, I'm going through all your builds at the moment your one busy man, that Sandcrawler is going to awsome.

Re: X-Wing Madness. Finished!

Guy, you did a wonderful job with your X, and I thing these composits are great. Might I suggest, however, taking some longer shots - putting the X at more of a distance. Up this close you can tell it's a model, but I think further away it will look a bit more realistic.

Not to say the shots you have aren't good. Keep it up, mate!

Re: X-Wing Madness. Finished!

I'm with you on that, these were just pics I took whilst I was finishing the painting of her, & were never ment to be used, I'm just using them as practice as I've never done comp stuff before. When I get the chance I will spend some decent time on the proper shots especially when it come to the framing of the X.

Re: X-Wing Madness. Finished!

Hey Guy,X-wing looks GREAT.Are you going to try to photoshop some of your pictures on to some screen caps?

Dave

Re: X-Wing Madness. Finished!

I hadn't thought about doing that, i suppose it would give me a great source of how it should really look in the frame? Hmmmmmm. Anyone know where I can get some high res screen caps? I did have a hole set but cant remember were I got em. Thanks Dave:love

Guy,
I'm currently downloading the HD 720P version off torrent .. that way, I can have better reference and choose my own screen cap after that. That may be the way to go unless someone has a link to an online libraby with virtually all shots from the 3 movies? :)

Can't wait to see some nice shots. It'll be great if you can match the look of the pictures of your model with the screen caps.
