Wood Harry Potter Wand Replicas_update 10-31-11...

Still working on orders and new wands as well...
I have decided to open an etsy store selling wands instead of a blog.

My daughter was Luna Lovegood so I built some jewelry as well. I made the bug ring also and Spectrespecs (not pictured). I may sell these in the future though.

Jnicktem - I will let you know when its up, and I will add the link to my signature below.
Custom Elder Wand made from Cocobolo and Bone inlay, 16" long finished with shellac and wax. Display piece only, which is still very sturdy, but I prefer to make these from one piece of wood.
I will have more to show on the way...

Any Harry Potter fans must, I mean HAVE TO!, pick up the new book "Harry Potter Page to Screen: The Complete Filmmaking Journey". AWESOME READ with lots of pics including wormtails wand. I wish they would have showed more of the props including the wands but it is simply an awesome book, and you must go get it now!! Beautiful concept art showing characters, creatures, and environments, a must have reference.

Thanks for the tip! I will have to take a look for that book!

And I can't wait to see what wands you offer... there are several that I want. Mainly the Bellatrix LeStrange, Neville Longbottom, and Harry Potter for starters.

Just the other day, I came across a picture online of what I think are a few of the actual prop wands they used in the movies. You can tell they're legitimate because Voldemort's wand has the screen-accurate bended shaft. Additionally, each wand is labelled and a couple are even clearly marked that they are made of rubber, which I guess would mean that they're specifically used on set for stunts. I was really excited to find this picture because it's the first clear glimpse of the handle of Wormtail's wand (I will be working on a new version of his wand based on this picture this weekend, so hopefully I'll have some new pictures to share as well very soon!). I wonder if this picture is from the book that was mentioned?

dcn5002- great reference pic, I will be redoing the wormtail wand, man I wish someone would publish a book showcasing the Harry Potter props in its entirety, I mean all books, potions, WANDS!! etc. like Lucasfilm did.
That pic isn't in the new book but there are two pics in the book where you can clearly see that its a snake curled around itself. Kinda disappointed I thought it was cool that it could possibly be a "worm tail" wand made just for him. Still a very cool wand that Noble overlooked for some reason.

Yes....that would be awesome if DK or the like would publish such a resource, and I would buy a couple of them! :thumbsup

Every now and again, Noble releases a couple new products out of the blue. In fact they just added Moody's flask (which I am horribly tempted to buy!) and the cup of Hufflepuff to their list of products. It wouldn't surprise me if a few more wands were on the way as well!

If they are going to have new wands for the Holiday season they would have been featured in the new catalog which showed Moody's flask and the Hufflepuff cup, etc.
I think they are either done releasing new ones OR they will add them in January.
So for now I am focusing on selling off most of my wands to prepare to buy just the select favorites I want to get for myself eventually.

HeirofOllivander your Elder Wand replica with the bone inlay is AMAZING! Completely blew my mind when i first saw it!!!

Hey everybody! I just wanted to let you all know that for the first time in a very long time (just in time for the holiday season!), I have decided to finally sell some of the wands I've made. So if anyone is interested, I have just listed several wands on eBay under my name there, which also happens to be "dcn5002". All of the wands currently listed there are the exact wands that you have already seen in this forum. I should also point out that each one of the wands I've shown are currently the only ones that exist; I do not have any duplicate wands, so they are all one-of-a-kind. Enjoy!

make your own thread...

It truly amazes me that people have been creating such accurate replicas from wood.

Someone going to make the snapped in half elder wand replica? Eh?

I hope everybody on here is enjoying the remainder of the holiday season and that you're all gearing up for an exciting New Year! That being said, I wanted to share something with all of you that I'm pretty excited about as well - my latest version of Wormtail's wand (forgive the poor quality of some of the pictures - I need to invest in a better camera!). This particular wand has been a long time in the making, and I definitely have to give credit to HeirofOlivander for sharing some really great reference pictures!

As has been pointed out in earlier posts on this site, Wormtail's wand is actually based on a snake whose head curls back onto a wavy, zig-zagged body. I originally wasn't particularly fond of this wand's design just because it's a little unimaginative; it's like there was no effort to take snakelike elements and somehow create a wand from them, instead the wand is just a plain (though somewhat stylized) snake and nothing more. However, there's just something about the warped shape of the wand that grew on me throughout the process of carving it.

This wand represents my first attempt at carving ebony, and compared to the usual domestic woods I'm used to, this was like carving stone. In fact, my normal carving knives were essentially useless for everything but the fine details just because they kept getting dull against the hard ebony. So I had to use a combination of power tools for forming the majority of this wand. In the end, though, I think all the hard work and blisters were well worth it because the ebony gives this wand a great weight and I love the fact that I didn't have to use any stain on it at all. In addition, once I sanded everything and got it as smooth as I could, I was actually able to polish it to a pretty high sheen using a buffing wheel, which I thought was pretty crazy considering wood can be polished as if it were metal! I'll definitely be using ebony again in the future, but in the meantime, I'm really excited to know what you think about this attempt at Wormtail's wand!

As a final note, I wanted to share something interesting about this wand that I found a few days ago. From what I remember in the books, this wand was specifically made for Wormtail by Mr. Ollivander during his emprisonment at Malfoy Manor. So in essence, this would be Wormtail's second wand, or at least a different one than the wand he would have used as a student at Hogwarts. However, I came across a picture from the filming of The Goblet of Fire (I got this picture from the Harry Potter Page To Screen book) where Wormtail appears to be pointing his own wand at Harry instead of Voldemort's. So the design of this wand has apparently been around for a lot longer than any of us ever would have guessed!

So since The Goblet of Fire movie was made before Book 7 was released, it makes sense that J.K. Rowling must not have shared this wand's history with the film crew ...or she might have just made it up as she went along. Or, it could be that Mr. Ollivander simply carved Wormtail's second wand to resemble his first one. In any case, I just thought it was a strange little detail that fellow wandmakers and collectors might enjoy! :)

Interesting find dcn! My guess is they were filming and realized that Wormtail needed to be using V's wand so they switched wands during the filming of the graveyard scene. Later on I bet they thought that since the audience didn't know Wormtail had a wand yet (since it hadn't been shown) they would just use the designed one they had for him as his "new" wand, although, in the film, it wasn't made a point for Ollivander to 'weigh' that wand which they took from Malfoy Manor despite it being among the ones Ollivander examined in the book. Darn those discrepancies! Dang director's can't get the details right!
Haha.
Anyways, fantastic work as always sir!!
