Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

Any recommendations on painting the buckle? Looking for
ideas on colors and weathering. I've seen several buckles
that have different paint jobs and I'm not sure what parts
get painted for a screen accurate buckle.

Today was buckle paint day for me. I took a little artistic license with the weathering.

I've pretty much been lurking through this thread for a while now, 'cause I didn't have much to add (although, I am still waiting patiently for a set of those dog-tags ;) ).

Does anyone know what the specs are of Logan's truck from X-1? I know it was an F-150, and an automatic, but was it a SuperDuty? What were the colors?...

Also, I've been keeping an eye out for a dead-on or close-enough pearl-snap shirt like the one he wears in X-1, or X-3. Apparently, I'm not looking in the right spots, because I'm still looking...

Any help is appreciated,
-Alex

BTW: Not for this halloween, but I'm TOTALLY saving up for one of Dan's X-1's!:love

Well to haul that large camper safely and tow the trailer at the same time, it had to be at least a F250 ( of which I own in white :p) . The colorway was green on white. I have yet to actually see that color or know the specific year/model. But I do have images to share curtiousy of our own themechanic. :D

Interior

If anyone want to get OCD, like I did and hunt down his bottle opener on his keys. I found a couple on eBay last xmas. Not easy to find that type.

Thanks Drool.
Makes sense for it to be a 250. Starting with that, I did a little looking around to determine the body style; the generation of F-250's with the vertical amber lights on the sides of the headlights (instead of horizontal above or below) were made between 1987-1991.
The screen used truck was not a 4X4. You can tell because it would have the decal just below the driver headlight.

So any clues as to Logan's shirts?

Also, Drool: do you remember what you entered into the search field for that style of bottle opener, or was it just "keychain bottle opener"?

'91 is the year of mine ;) , and you can tell if it's 4x4 by the locking hub dials on the end of the axel inside the rim. You can't really tell but those seem to be spinning locking hubs to me. ;)
Oh and the pumpkin underneath on the front axel also tells me 4x4.
The only confirmed shirt from X1 aside the crazy expensive single Zimmerli tank top( as seen is all but X1) that goes for $70 easy (which is not a great investment alone IMO, as I have 2 tanks and one Z shirt) He wore a gray tank top in X1.
The red/gold paisley seen at the end was a Sandy Dalal (from NYC). I have yet to find any, as I think this was either a one off or super rare/minimum run. The flannel in the Alberta bar was a vintage western pearl snap, that was either a Pan Handle Slim or H-Bar-C. The jean jacket was a Helmut Lang that you can find time to time on eBay still stupid expensive, as it's a designer jacket.

As for the bottle opener I did enter that plus I think if you add 'vintage', that might help too.

MJF, that is one of thee best paint jobs on Ol' Chief I have ever seen. Great job. You have talent sir. I think the distressing on the weather effect is the fun part about doing these buckles as no two are exactly alike. :)

That is really nice of you to say. I was very nervous about doing it and never confident when it comes to painting.

I used enamels for the colors. I did a multi layers on the feathers with different mixes of white, yellow, and brown. Once I got the colors in place, I used acrylics diluted with water and applied a wash. I used a black wash on the face a brown/black wash on the rest. I used steel wool for the wear process. Once I got the look I was satisfied with, I applied a clear coat to help protect it.

You know, at first I was hesitant about doing the dog tags. As I started working on the artwork I got more excited. Now this waiting for the rep to get a factory quote is just killing me. I really want to get this project going.

Sounds like a damn good recipe to me. :cool

OK, ok - I stand corrected about the 4X4 bit.:lol. I was just looking for the little emblem when I said that.

Just poking a little fun about the tags. ;)
I know they haven't gotten back to you yet.

Thanks for the tip on the shirts and bottle opener Drool.

No problem, ds.

ALRIGHT....

I've tried to ask others via PM that might be able to help me out with an Xavier School plaque and no resolution, not even a reply. So I'm taking it public here, as this is a high traffic thread. Of holy grail props, this is mine. Ever since noticing it the first time at the end of X1 back in 2000, I've eyed this baby, and I'm curious as to who else is interested in this plaque, whether it be casted in actual brass (any metal really) or a resin/plexiglass. Someone with a plaque/sign background or connections that can help out in any way would be great. There's been two members here that did short runs of theses dead on in the past in various mediums, but since I was late to the party I am now showing major interest. I'm vying for the X2 communicator and helping in any way I can on that front in the respective thread (#2 holy grail), but this sign in brass will make me build two brick walls (and maybe an iron gate...and then a British style mansion... :lol) out front to mount it on. That's how serious I am.

Hi Tony.
If some guys made and sold some runs of the Xavier's School plaque here on the RPF, you should open a "Want To Buy" thread in the junkyrad !! :thumbsup

Bub.....

That is a hell of a jacket....Even if it IS late, it's STILL one hell of a jacket...(I live in Japan, which sadly means ANYTHING sent from ANYWHERE takes twice as long to arrive, so I DO feel your pain on the wait time...:cry )..

But that is STILL a badassed jacket....I'd love to see what it looks like on...Let's hope that USPS can remove their heads from the wrong holes in time to deliver sometime this week eh?

Regards..

Thanks IFA. I was curious to see the interest in a related thread before I created another one. But it seems no one but myself is interested to have their house turned into a mutant mansion/school. :lol
