WIP: 1/2 scale WALL•E

Hi guys,

I started the paint job on the body and the one almost completed eye. I am waiting for the ABS tubing to make the arms.

The display is just a temporary printed one.

That is insane!! That paint & weathering is spot on!

Fantastic work as always, my friend!

When you don't want something to rust, it rusts; when you do want something to rust, it doesn't rust right. That is a splendid paintjob, stipple brush or airbrush?

Is it as satisfying as it looks to build?

Thanks guys. The base colour is Fiat Broom Yellow, which I dusted with a warmer yellow filler primer. The weathering is mostly rattle cans of various colours sprayed from different distances. Tamiya Red Brown for the dark rust. There is also an oil paint wash - equal measures of burnt sienna, yellow ocre, orange and white spirit. The really dark weathering is graphite polish.

Yes, WALL•E is a very satifying project, quite quick and very messy. :)

WOW!! What a fantastic job you've done. It's like he stepped out of the movie. :cool:thumbsup Can't wait to see it all put together.

Amazing work Neil.
I can't wait to see him up on his tracks.

Cheers! Fixed the colours on the head (thanks Scot!) and started experimenting with iron powder and vinegar to produce the rust. The results were pretty good and it bonds to the paint by itself. I'll just need to dust some dull coat over it. The rust has a great texture. Sorry for the lame pic, I had to use my phone. I'll take better photos tomorrow.

I'm really looking forward to using this on the body.

I could just about weep that looks so good! That is going to be THE BEST Wall-E out there! If you decide you don't have room for him, drop me a line. :love

Fantastic work as always, buddy!

It looks like you plucked it right off the shelf in his carrier.

Absolutely awesome!

Cripes - fantastic work. My 5 year old niece would be so excited about this.........any thoughts on doing an Eve to match?

I am going to do an EVE and an M-O at some point. Probably be some time away.

Here are some better pics of the rust:
