What's on your workbench? (no Star Wars, Marvel or DC stuff)

Re: What's on your workbench?

Right now I've got a few different works in progress.

First and largest, my Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine armor:

Next, and only slightly less complex, my Engineering RIG from Dead Space 2:

The early beginnings of my HALO3 rocket launcher:

Which is just one of my very many HALO props.

My Delta Squad helmet lineup:

The prototype for my helmet display stands:

Finally, a buttload of my Combat Garden Gnomes:

Those damned things are everywhere:

I'm selling them in my Etsy shop.

Working on a Star Trek Phaser display. I have multiple projects going all at once but I had to step back due to finals at school. Gotta study..

I'll be building a back lit display for these.

I have some additional things to do to the phasers to finish them up.

Re: What's on your workbench?

Getting ready to mold my APC hull for a kit heading to the Home Depot for some Plexi-glass to make the Mold box, then to the sculpting supply place for some Klean clay and a gallon of silicone I hope that it will be enough.

Not nearly as impressive as some of yours, but here's mine:

Gemini Khan IM MkVI helm all painted up and ready for eyes/LEDs; Cowboys & Aliens wrist blaster customizing, along with the rest of the costume to be put together (chaps, vest, etc); ANH "Greedo Killer" to be worked on next... Still trying to source parts for it. Have the grill on its way from CorellianExports, but still need to find resin casts of the scope/mount, flash hider, etc (looking for resin instead of metal to keep the cost down)

Re: What's on your workbench?

Here's the latest project on my workbench, a Warhammer 40k Bolt Pistol!
I still have to add a bunch of details to it and finish that barrel, but the main build is almost done now. Another couple of days and it'll be ready for paint :)

in the other room through that door is the set of carts with lathe and grinders for grinding and polishing. then in the other room I have a mankind mask I have not gotten around to photoing yet. (I will get to that soon though and post a couple pics)

Re: What's on your workbench?

I love the finish you get on your Guns.

Thanks!
I use super thin matte black paint, lots of thin layers instead of one thick one. :)

Silver colored pencil is great for metal wear and a light body, thin clearcoat (not matte or glossy) to seal it and deepen the matte black.

Can you please be more specific? is there a particular brand that gives good results? If it's out of a rattle can, do you dillute it then run it through an airbrush? I'd love to be able to get the kind of results you do, sir. They look great!!!
