What Should Indiana Jones Go After Next

Indiana Jones and the Seven Dwarfs ?
Indiana Jones and the Holy Pint of Guiness ?
Indiana Jones and a decent HCG paint job ? (that will be nigh on impossible)

If a further sequel must be made, what about a scenario where the US, in it's cold-war fear, has decided the only alternative to Soviet dominiation is to use this ark thingy they've had in their possession for 30 years? Moves the story into the 60s and nuclear terror, with the power of the ark mirroring that threat.

Perhaps risking redundancy, but with the right script it might be neat to see him go full circle from being a young man hopped up on fortune, glory and jingoism, to a wiser man entering his twilight realizing that no one nation is responsible enough to hold the ultimate power, and it's best if some of these things stay lost (leading to a final retirement). Indy vs. the good guys, his homeland, in a race to stop armageddon which ends with the ark destroyed or hidden in Ethiopia. Could be a neat bookend with lots o' drama taking the place of the increasingly hard to believe 70 year old Ford in fisticuffs.

On second thought...leave it the hell alone already.

How about they make up some lost relic of great power that leads him to the lost city of Atlantis with traps and a good old fashioned gritty Goonies style plot that gives the feel the originals had? He needs to get the old feel back. I couldnt stand all the references to his age in the last one and the new age genre with the trans-dimensional beings sucked. And would it kill them to let him end up with some real "fortune and glory" just once? If they can make Dan Akroyd look young and thin for blues brothers 2000 and a decent job with the new Tron and Jeff Bridges then surely something fantastic could be achieved for Harrison Ford.

If one nation should hold the ultimate power I sure hope it is the United States of America. I like your concept but it sure seems to wuss ole Indy out. I just cant stomach that as I hold a fifth degree belt in dorkjitsu and Indiana Jones is my sensei.

I may be thinking of another story, but this could be part of the Coral Castle lerend. However, I may have my Coast to Coast AM stories confused.

Could be, I'll look into it.
I heard that story ages ago, so it might take a while.
What's the Coral Castle legend?

It's like you're reading my mind! I posted practically the same thing in 2009 over at The Raven:

Here's an absolutely insane idea for 5 & 6 that I cooked up today. Nazis have been done, and Russian Communists have been done. Problem, they're both great. Who else is there without the idea getting stale? Hmmm. Why not ramp it up a notch? Commies vs. post-war Nazis in Antarctica, with Indy caught between them both!! A small outpost that never needed to disband or surrender because their location was so well hidden. The commies find out about their presence while searching for one of the lost "Hall of Records". Some brutal hatred between these two countries during the war, you know. Anyway, we can let the nazis lose for good down by the south pole. The "Hall of Records" then yields the information on how to access "Even ha-Shetiyah." (aka The Stone of Creation), located a mile or two under the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

For Indy 6? Who would Indy fight after Nazis and Communists? His own government. That's right, you heard me. For his swan song, Indy has to battle a rogue faction of U.S. soldiers bent on harnessing the power of The Ark of The Covenant for their own evil purposes. Indy, rather than running, hiding and being chased himself, becomes the active pursuer! The rest of the movie viewing world would probably appreciate the Indyverse finding some bad guys within our own country. In the end, (and I know I've said this elsewhere), the ark destroys the bad guys, and Indy hides it himself to assure its' safety until God is ready for it to be found again and placed in the "Tribulation Temple". In doing so, our hero's true mission on earth as the ark's protector is revealed. The world weary adventurer is then consumed by the power of the ark and gloriously ascends into the next life.

...and Jannix, that picture is awesome.

Preferibly a story/plot that doesn't have anything to do with aliens and NOT have Shai LaDouche in it or mentioned. It is unfortunate that Sean Connery is retired from show biz...hmmm.I hope if there is a "next time around" they put more effort into the story, plot and characters.
