Life is not going to allow me to complete my raygun at this juncture.
I'll be most distraught if our poor troops are overrun because of my life oddities.
You all will have to work harder to make sure our troops get all the rayguns they need to defeat those barbaric Venusian hordes! Huzzah to you intrepid builders!
The Buffalo Gal Raygun with a Ruminating Reactor (mind the regurgitation valve) may someday see the light of Venus... just not for this battle.
In the mean time I thought I'd post some of my design sketches.
Life is not going to allow me to complete my raygun at this juncture.

Yeah - I'm amazed at the quality entries and even the concepts in this thread - top stuff.
I already have my two top favourites for this comp - but I'm sure that more are to be seen.
I hope that those who can't complete their raygun for the competition can still finish up and share their creations...

The concepts are not necessarily in order, but that webbed concept, with a carrying slot, was one of my favorites too.
However, since I decided I needed four chambers for processing the the Righteous Bison's output (bison have a four chamber stomach) that design wasn't going to work.
Technical Note: The regurgitation valve would be off the first chamber feeding the non-symmetrical emissions from the beam back to the Bison proper for reprocessing.

I have just had a chance to see all the customized rayguns which have been submitted already (you will be getting verifications tomorrow) and they are simply amazing! I don't envy Weta trying to judge these!
