Weta - Dr Grordbort's Custom Raygun Contest! - SHOW OFF YOUR CONCEPTS AND DESIGNS!

Re: Weta - Dr Grordbort's Custom Raygun Contest! - SHOW OFF YOUR CONCEPTS AND DESIGNS

Click the PDF link on the first page, it tells you all you need to know. Don't worry, you have until August 30th :D

The 30th? Really? I read the 15th, did they push back the date for some reason?

The new date was from this post:
IMPORTANT

We are going to extend the deadline for the competition to 30 August, in order to give more time to the people who are now getting their deliveries from the UK warehouse

Cheers

Tim
:thumbsup

Anyway...
I got my replacement logo plates made up today. I'm really encouraged by how well they came out.

Re: Weta - Dr Grordbort's Custom Raygun Contest! - SHOW OFF YOUR CONCEPTS AND DESIGNS

Hey thanks, I must have overlooked that post. I can't browse this site very easily, NetNanny blocks a lot of pages, and I have to get my g/f to come override it. Those plates look sweet, I look forward to seeing your entry!

:lol

Know the feeling...and somehow realize our designs within the time frame :confused ...and how many other chicks are doing this comp or are they all guys?!!

I'm hardly a threat I reckon :angel
Hi! I'm a chick and from NZ too! I live in Ashhurst near Palmerston North. This is my first raygun (actually first model of any kind) and am really enjoying it. The competition is totally overwhelming though! At least at the end of this I can enjoy looking at the gun and say to myself "At least I gave it a go!"

WOW maser Anubis. Those look great. Although I didn't know they had CNC machines in 1910.

No biggie Valdi, it doesn't bother me. It looks great. I used a Unicorn gall bladder stone for a plasma to photonic converter crystal in that spot. Here it is in an electrical test. First photo is the crystal working and the second is the photonic accumulator funnel being filled.

I'll keep my tripple dark matter amplifiers secret for a little longer.

Nice ! Looking forward to see the rest.
One could imagine that MasterAnubis' plaque would have been possible to make via pantograph (perhaps from a big original) and thereby his artwork would have gotten the apparent 'cnc' marks...

(Take a look at the wikipedia article
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantograph )

I think you took my post the wrong way. The part looks fine and could have been created just casting them. I was commenting on the CNC or laser cutter behind it. It was tongue in cheek. It is just a drill press.

Re: Weta - Dr Grordbort's Custom Raygun Contest! - SHOW OFF YOUR CONCEPTS AND DESIGNS

No sweat ZK all is good. :lol

Re: Weta - Dr Grordbort's Custom Raygun Contest! - SHOW OFF YOUR CONCEPTS AND DESIGNS

Thanks everyone, I didn't mean to cause a ruckus with this. :p As far as the part goes with tech, that could have easily been a stamped part. but I like the Pantograph concept a lot. The dies don't make themselves.

Zombie Killer, That drill press was a way better background than my floor or the junk on my bench.:lol
Great teaser pics BTW. But, where do find unicorn gall bladder stones in this economy?
Oh, I like that plasma-augment too:ninja.

alexalthauser, your welcome.:thumbsup I'm going to be using all the time I can get. Between school, work and family that two weeks is huge.

Cool plates I got some also but they were anvil and hammer stamped some 80 years ago. I like to go vintage as much as possible. I have an interesting pulverized buffalo chip 500Mw power supply to share a pic of very soon since the dead line has been extended. I like the teaser pic idea!

Re: Weta - Dr Grordbort's Custom Raygun Contest! - SHOW OFF YOUR CONCEPTS AND DESIGNS

The winners will be judged by three people at Weta. Are they going to view the entries as they get them, and choose the winner between now and then? Or, will they view each entry for the first time, the day of the judging? Also, will they be viewing the forum, and will our posts sway the voting, or is it based solely on our gun designs?

Terrific creativity going on here, wow! A few directions I never even thought of. Going to be a tough contest to judge, I may have to resort to bribery :love or blackmail :love just to warrant a look. Luckily, I know stuff about the major people at Weta. :love

Here's my The Laughing Angus so far. Need to get it into paint asap and detailed.
