Sorry to be so behind on answering your questions.

I think as the thread has gone on we’ve seen that the Weta guys have uncorked a fantastic can of creative worms. People are really going to town on backstory documents, blueprints, logos etc (if we don’t get someone attaching one to a car roof and calling it a tank, I’ll be bitterly disappointed…) Can these rules be relaxed to enable folk full reign to show off their creativity? Obviously the pieces themselves shouldn’t be digitally enhanced but the associated gubbins only adds to the fun for all of us.

You are welcome to send in additional info, pics, documentation to go along with your entry but your entry will be judged on the three photos.

Also how is it going to work? We have an address so presumably finished pictures should not be posted on this thread – will the RPF guys post pictures on a separate thread as they come in or all of them after the end date?. I myself would favour the latter – I know some may say it goes against the spirit of the competition but posting super-duper pictures of weapons the size of aircraft carriers may discourage those that have just added tooth-paste tube tops and their Mum’s nail varnish… I would like to see as many entries as possible (even some idea sketches caused a few guys to bail – shame!)

Yes, we will have a separate thread where we will post up the entries by time of submission. We will NOT taken submissions after the cutoff date, but I am sure it is going to take us at least a week to get all the submissions organized and posted. We will not make them public until all of them are ready.

Tell me if you agree or not – can the competition guys get out some revised rules? Also what format and resolution is best for you?

We will touch base with Weta and get back to you on this.

I apologize if I missed it. It there a certain file or picture size limit for the emails we send in with our entry?

We will resize them all for you, but if possible, please do keep the three photos together under 10Mb.

I'm about to submit, I just have a question, Does the subject of the email need to be a specific thing? or can I just say "Weta, Dr. Gordbort custom ray gun contest submission"
and then should I put in the body:
-Name of gun
-rpf user name
?

Sent yours in? I didn't realize you had to send anything in, I thought we just had to post pictures. It's probably too late to send mine in now, but where do you send it anyway?

It is not too late! Some time back Weta extended the contest to the end of the month! You have until then to send your three photos in to promo@therpf.com.

To cover submission, here is the text from the entry letter (with the final date updated):

"Once you have modified your Righteous Bison for Lord Cockswain, please give it a name on a bovine theme (including but not limited to words such as cow, bull , cattle , etc) .
• Provide three photos of it via email to contest@therpf. com. Photos should include left prof i l e , right profile and a three - quarter shot. We encourage you to take photos with a neutral background and with good lighting.
• To submit your customized Righteous Bison you must be a member of the RPF (membership is free) and you must submit your customized raygun by the 31th August."

Please also be sure to include your RPF member name and the name of your raygun with your entry!

Could you please confirm the exact cut-off time/date. I'm likely to need to work right up to the line and I don't want to miss the deadline by miscalculating GMT across International datelines or something! (Also both the 30th and the 31st have been mentioned by Weta).

So much to still do!!! Hope I get this done in time. I've spent the last week working on basement flood damage (which is where our home theater is of course)...so my gun has just been sitting in pieces for about 10 days.

Terrific creativity going on here, wow! A few directions I never even thought of. Going to be a tough contest to judge, I may have to resort to bribery :love or blackmail :love just to warrant a look. Luckily, I know stuff about the major people at Weta. :love
