Greetings! I've been meaning to post on here for a while. Everyone's designs are looking great.

I hope to see some of you guys at the Con. Maybe we can get together and have a group photo at the Weta both.

I really hope I can get mine together by then. Got it's righteousness a couple weeks ago but only just thought of a design. More to follow.

Did think of a name already. The Galumphing Gaur

Been quietly lurking and spending a lot of time staring at my gun, trying to bring myself to disassemble it.

But I have to come out of lurking to say...

GOOD GRAVY, Pyxl, what are you building?! Talk about going for the jugular on this contest! Amazing! (Or maybe it's only a model? It's forced perspective, right?)

It is a device piloted by the eccentric Dr. Giles Vandermeer. His experiments with the damnable alien resizemotron left him under 2 feet tall. Receipt of the Bison gave way to endless hours developing improvements on the weapon and a reliable way for the good Doctor to be able to use it.

The Friesian Filleter stands a tad over 1.85 meters (6 feet)...which also happens to be the Doctor's original height. I doubt it's a coincidence.
The Filleter has been designed for direct drive (if you are under 2 feet tall) or remote control , and Vandermeer envisions a day when scores of Filleters rip through the savage wilds of the universe, saving many a good lad from direct harm.

What could be a better improvement to the Bison than to make it walk as well as destroy? I ask you, sir...what could be better?
Vandermeer says he may be able to make the bloody weapon drive itself soon and there is no way to conceive of any problems with a self-driven mechanical weapon in his view.

Joining The RPF and getting into this competition has definitely motivated me to upgrade all my gadgets. Just purchased a Sony Cyber-shot and now all the details pop with clarity. Matador just needs a couple of plasma conduits at the business end and an aggressive paint job with a bit of rust and dust to seal the deal.
Construction materials used;
One Righteous Bison (unfinished)
One pressure cleaner nozzle.
Monster Scenes "Gruesome Goodies"
Plastic lens cleaner/hand lotion dispenser bottles
Lampshade finials
One sport supplement container(plastic test tube)
One steampunk octopus from a Japanese action figure "Copper Head Dig 88"
The last item should be recognizable to those familiar with the character. Considering how much that figure costs, they are probably shaking their heads.

I've been doing some work on the cockpit of this walking weapon...I'm using HDU to skin the inside and for some of the details. Soon I have to start on the antique "barber chair" that will hold the pilot. FUN!!

Well, I've not got my Naked Bison as of yet, but I've started planning my build. Do I have the skills required to pull it off? Nah, not in any way shape or form, but never mind eh?

Talk about escalation! First people though of extending the barrel and adding a stock... then pyxl decided on making a walker for the gun. Now HeadCase is making a building! Maybe we should forgo the competition and have a group build of a full-sized spaceship with two hundred Bisons mounted on the hull!

Well - now I have to re-think my plans and see if I have the time and resources to construct a 1:1 scale bison manufactory, complete with steam powered gear driven automatons working on a Bison production line.

(Checks his watch...)

Nup - I think I will stick to the original plan, modify the gun to look like a gun.

But I have decided the best part of this competition is this forum and you totally amazing folk and your zany 'off the scale' creations!

I hope Weta consider publishing a book of all the entries...

my nude bison arrived in Australia today. It's a shame to pull it to pieces. I'm tempted to just go to town on the paint job, but I think I'll pay a visit to Reverse Garbage Welcome and go hunting for goodies

Just did a test spraying of Rustolium "Brushed Nickel" to see how well it dries on the pieces that fit around the clear tube on the gun barrel underside. I would hope the R & D labs could come up with a paint that works on ABS,PVC,Resin,Styrene and metal. My project has all 5.
Will most likely prime the rest of the piece in flat black. And work up from there. The sweet thing about this gun is that it can display using a Grordbort Gun Stand. The barrel may be long, but it's not front heavy.

I'll get working on it asap, just a few questions.
I noticed a lot of people are planning heavy modifications, heavy modification is not a requirement right? If I wanted to keep the general look, while adding a few things here and there would that be okay?
do I need to notify anyone that I'll be in the contest, like is there a list that I need to go on?
That pretty much covers it. I know they are silly questions but I just want to have all my bases covered

To be quite honest I doubt very much that I'll do the building thing. As I said, I'm nowhere near having the skills to do a build like that. I'll do a test of making the dome, and if that's successfull I'll probably build just the topmost bit, with the Bison cannon inside. If not, I'll leave this idea for a digital project (which is what I actually know how to do) I do have a couple of ideas for a handgun mod too.

I posted this pic earlier but I fully expect someone to make a Kaitei Bison Gunkan before this is all through. It's perfect for an N-scale diorama. It's what I would do if I had a spare.
