I believe 5 ft. Home Depot, etc. You can use metal for coolness or PVC for weight. If you use PVC get the thicker one for durability. There is thick and thin PVC.

I used an aluminum pole. Outside diameter is 1 inch. Stuffed a wood dowel into the pole so it wasn't hollow
