venom costume build

I dig those hands especially the claws once again great job!

- Gavin
thanks
i forgot to mention that the claws are a differnt foam that is a higher density so they will be much more sloid once done , hold their shape and yopu can claw people without injury..lol

heres a sculpted hand ready for paint . the white patch will be added later.
and the head and tongue vid.

Damn this is just awesome work.. The hand looks HUGE, can't wait to see how this turns, everything looks spot on mate !

Articulation on the hands is great! Will take some practice to keep them from getting stuck on each other. I'm not sure if there is a way to combat that while keeping the movement as fluid as it is, so it might just be a necessary evil.

Wow. That's incredible movement in the hands. I was not expecting that. I'm also diggin' the jams ;)

hey
here are hands completed with paint. still some airbrushing to do when suit is complete. sorry for crappy pics im awful at photography..lol will post vids soon of motion test later today when my wife / model gets home
they have retained nearly all the mobility , the trick is to accommodate the latex shrinkage and work with it especially around the knuckles . i went back into them twice releasing bond areas and to get the flexibility and pose-ability i wanted
im starting the body suit tomorrow will be pre - 20140305_093042.jpg20140305_094110.jpg20140305_094230.jpg20140305_095200.jpg20140305_095440.jpg20140305_095712.jpg20140305_093808.jpg20140305_093854.jpg20140305_093958.jpg20140305_094006.jpg20140305_094018.jpg20140305_094024.jpgcutting muscle groups beforehand and make duplicates of each foe efficiency and symmetry in the body suit.
the tedious hard bits are over now time for the fun of building the beast of a venom suit i have in mind..lol

You make me mad, every time I look at this awesome thread, that I'm not the one this suit is being built for.

i hear ya , id love to keep them all it does sting a bit after all the work to box them up and send them off never to be seen again .
the good news is i can always make more and i get better everytime so if you or anyone else would like something let me know or if you want to make your own im an open book and would love to help..

cheers
thanks for the support , i like your post they keep me thinking about the details..lol

heres the vid of motion of venom hands after latex. they stiffen a bit but if you account for that you nwill retain most of it and with wear these will only get better, you have to work latex stuff in.
on the body now will post something soon

Pretty unique way to do venom!
its really cool when people turn it on its head like that. the concept pics he is going by and the results so far are very promising . i have a partly built ironman in my basement made of foam someone gave me a while back i may do something like this . there are so many great ironman builds out there ( and spiderman..lol) this is unique id love to see more like it.

I love it. I've always wanted to "portray" Venom, but at 5'8"... I just don't see that it's in my future.

oh theres always a way..this suit presents its own challenges the "host" to be is 5'10" 250 husky dude . its all about the silouette you work with what you have and modify what you can .you can use lifts , stilts but i find them a little awkward . a digigrade shoe buried in foot(heel) would also give you height and stability. i have made the fingers and hands long to give illusion of length to arms.....dont be so "morbid" charlie...sorry had to do it..lol

cheers

What materials do you use to make these? Wondering because, I'm currently designing my own Spider-Carnage/ Carnage/ and Venom full body suit and came across this. Just wondering if you could point me in the right direction of materials and such. Awesome build by the way!

hey there
heres the link to my carnage build. it has lots of details that may help, and my deviant art page for further pics of details.

mongrelman's deviantART gallery

essentially the body suit is sculpted from regular cushion foam i got from fabric-land here in Canada spray glued to a lycra suit . i build up foam in laminated layers 1-2 inch foam then sculpt back details.
the mask is sculpted in clay and cast in smooth-on flexfoam III then all painted with latex tinted with latex tint and paint. both carnage and this venom will be built the same.

if you have any further questions drop a note ill do my best to help.

cheers and good luck on the build be sure to post pics would love to see them.
