venom costume build

got some more detail on and will be finished tomorrow for casting. the teeth are separate but will have mock up teeth for tomorrows pics for client, my carnage client sent me a funny pic of him enjoying his suit i couldnt resist showing.
ill have this thing painted by early next week then start muscle suit, the new client is a big dude so venom will be a beast..lol

alright here the final sculpt for the new venom mask for a full costume build. i added more teeth and refined some details especially around mouth and gums area.
for those interested the sculpt was done in monster maker clay. i really like it but this is only my second sculpt in clay (for mask making) so i dont have any comparisons but it holds dteail well and easy to manipulate. i got the stiffer stuff because it holds more detail and im a little rough handed so it takes the abuse..lol
the teeth are sculpted out of supersculpty . this i did for a couple reasons. im attaching the teeth separately after i cast the clay sculpt with teeth removed. this allows for more finished look and is more practical. to save myself a step of casting i used the supersculpty because i can fire and cure it in a normal conventional oven .. so venom will have ceramic teeth and will have a bit of a bite

im using a rubber brush on mold silicone then back that with plaster bandage mold.so i can make copies of this. ill cast in 2 part expanding flexfoam from smooth on products(great stuff) for my fellow canadians you get that at sculptural supply canada my one stop costume shop.

those interest in more how to or how much PM me and ill get back to asap.

cheers
mike

I really think the new teeth are spot on, much nicer then v1, which were nice as well, but these...

How many pounds of monster clay is used on the mask?

i used about 7-8 lbs of monster clay to build up shape and form, not sure what was left . i took alot off with bringing back detail, im guessing 6 lbs maybe less left on for finished sculpt.

thought i would have had this cast by now but the flu and my ocd for detail put it off. just finished more detail and added the lip tendrils ,very tricky area but ive sealed it with krystal clear krylon acrylic clear coat in spray can.
the spray will help hold detail and i find it helps as mold release . will finally be moving forward today with casting and ill do paint .
the teeth arent present they will be added later . i made them easily from super sculpty and then baked the polymer clay in regular kitchen oven, the came out great and will definitely add to look.

its weird ive never tried this before the carnage ive always made stuff from found materials mostly regular apolstry foam and i worked hard to get the detail i wanted, im totally hooked on the clay and mold process now. goes to show just give stuff a try you never know what you can do.
