lol...well i have an update of sorts, got my UPS tracking number and it says that the test rings should be here around the 18th.....but the tracking already has entries for australia so i wouldn't be surprised if it came sooner....

well great news everyone....

I got the rings in today and they're damn near perfect....I couldn't be any happier with how they've come out

I'll get some pics up soon and open them up for ordering later today

here are the pics, the rings themselves have a good amount of weight to them, and the fine texture from the 3d printing actually helps to make them feel old....I'm really really happy with them....again i'll be opening orders soon and will put a link to the junkyard post in the first post of this thread when i do....

wow, i'm actually quite surprised and impressed on how those rings came out. I've always been a bit skeptical about the metal portion of shapeways, but these pics are certainly converting me!
 
It turned out great.

Their process leaves it very nicely weathered.

I need to learn how to use 3D programs, so I can make stuff like this.

I'm completely thrilled that you've made a beautiful replica! I've been scouring the internet for something like it, or musing if I could make one myself - but here it is! I have a couple questions (and I don't have the privileges to post directly onto the 'junkyard' posts) - so I hope it's okay to ask here?

-I'm ordering from US - is there any trouble with international purchases? (I see I can order through Paypal, so I don't think there should be any issues?)

-The total is $25 flat, including shipping? (amazing!)

rhadamanthian, Shapeways has lots of facilities or subcontractors all over the world, so there will be no trouble ordering internationally.
 
great stuff!! I have searching a lot of times to ebay.com and nothing sell there and I looking at Google and I find here the forums and I orded today the ring and I want to order the leather wrap necklace, where did I find the offered cheaper at the shop?
the buckle belt "skull head pirate" I found from ebay.ca and brought it, I will to happy because I am big fan of the videogame Uncharted ;) the game of the year, yay!

btw, ring not silver then some little dirty gold from the game: Uncharted - Drake's Fortune
Perhaps I order wrong, or? I want not silver ring.
 
hey robo i'm just curious, on the shapeways site it says stainless steel and silver, but the ring in display is the brownish weathered look, is the actual ring itself going to be the weathered brown look or will it actually be silver?

the one in the pic is how it comes when you order a stainless steel one....

I don't really know what a silver one comes out like because I haven't ordered one or seen a pic from someone who has.....I'd imagine it looks quite snazzy though...

But if you want one like the one in the pic go for stainless steel
