My originals were taped off TV.

All I've got to say is, Disney & Lowry had better restore the original 1980s commercial breaks or I'm gonna be pissed.

George Lucas and his stupid alterations . . . the loss of those commercial breaks in the theatrical 1997 re-release completely ruined my childhood.

The home video releases saw a bunch of differences over the years, including sound effects changes and things like the Dagobah scene. These were nothing like the SEs, though, in terms of the scope and obviousness of the change.

I am not a fan of 3D movies; this is more about the source material used for the Star Wars films that have been converted to 3D,)

Have you seen TPM or AOTC in 3D? I only saw TPM during its limited theatrical release (opening night, actually), and I was impressed. I don't like the fad of movies throwing it in your face -- Cap's shield or Thor's hammer flying at the camera IN THREE-DEEEEE!!! and stuff like that. This was subtle and, I thought, actually enhanced by the conversion. The "STAR WARS" title fell back into the screen, the opening crawl was moving back into the screen, the subtitles hovered just above it, and -- since it hadn't been shot with 3D in mind -- there are very few in-your-face shots. The pod-race was great in 3D, and I'm not gonna lie, I seriously want to watch the inside-the-cockpit jump to lightspeed in 3D...

I'm interested to see how much deeper the depth is in AOTC and ROTS. A lot of the people-talking scenes in TPM weren't 3D at all, it was mostly just the space stuff and the pod race.

Yes, I saw TPM in 3D. I've seen quite a few movies in 3D (generally, only when a 2D version isn't an option). I find the 3D movies much too dark and generally too gimmicky.

Re: Star Wars OT UNALTERED Bluray!!!

I heard it from a guy, who heard it from a guy...

Optimistic, but i'll take it with a grain of salt for now :)

Re: Star Wars OT UNALTERED Bluray!!!

With Ultra HD BluRay on the horizon I can't think of a more opportune time to release these versions, that's assuming of course this information is accurate. It'd be one heck of a jump from a standard definition non-anamorphic DVD presentation to a 4K fully restored presentation on a freaking OLED TV.

Re: Star Wars OT UNALTERED Bluray!!!

I thought fox still owned the rights to the original films and that's the reason for the hold up on putting the un altered movies on disc?

Re: Star Wars OT UNALTERED Bluray!!!

Disney is projected to make over 5 billion off of MERCH ALONE...

I'd say paying off fox or sharing rights is not out of the question now...

Episode 7 is going to crush the box office even if it gets the worst ratings ever! Everyone on earth that has the means... Will see it at least once! LOL!!!

Seriously though, I truly apologize if it is BS guys.

I was half awake when my girlfriend saw it on a few different sites this morning. (For 3 years she's tried to get a Star Wars scoop that I don't already know! She is yet to be successful, so I guess real or fake its win-win for me?)

I told her if it isn't already on the RPF... It isn't true. :(

But Bryan... "You're really messing with my Zen thing man!"

I'm trying to will it into existence!!! (Cue Skywalker theme and thunderous rumble as i concentrate and focus)

I thought fox still owned the rights to the original films and that's the reason for the hold up on putting the un altered movies on disc?
